Per Greg Swaim X. I do think he is full of #### and only looks for clicks. I do following to get a laugh.
If that amount is true, i wonder what Neff and BOT decide to do??
It’s all about cash at this point. That’s the argument for leaving ACC.

He is very polite on X . He usually responds and likes the comments. I enjoy reading his X posts. He also doesn't have long to live given the fact that he is in hospice care.

Well, they have been working on over $1 billion in sponsorships and naming rights deals. Plus what TV deal(s) they have.

Brett Yormark has mentioned private equity in a few articles. I'm interested to see what happens and how much he can close the gap with the SEC and Big.

Why could the ACC not have done what the Big 12 is doing? Rhetorical question!

My guess is that the most valuable asset Clemson could use to entice private equity, are the rights or a portion of the rights to our football games. Right now, those rights are locked up with the ACC ESPN agreement. There is no incentive for ESPN to reopen a sweetheart deal.
It’s not that the Big 12 is better, but they didn’t lock in their rights agreements for 2 decades. So they are free to negotiate right now. The fact that the ACC did (lock up their rights), seems like it would be a breach of fiduciary capacity on behalf of the ACC members by ACC leadership at the time. I mean they essentially took a fair market value for 2016 rates and locked it in for 20 years.

That's what I thought as well. I just wonder why of all the conferences ours was the one that thought it was a good idea to lock up an agreement for such a long time. As rapidly as things have changed over the years, that doesn't make sense. It is like buying a 10 year CD at 2.5%.

That doesn't really make sense because the Big 12 is still under contract for x amount of years right now. I don't see how the big 12 would be able to sell anything while they're still in contract with the ACC couldn't sell anything while they're still under contract. In other words what I'm saying is, I don't think this private Equity stuff is tied to the TV rights.

Their deal goes through 2030-2031. So 6 ish years shorter and any deal likely can be reopened when adding new teams that bring significant value.
The value of Clemson / FSU is already rolled into the ACC’s deal.

And if it's such a great idea why aren't the actual cash cows (SEC, BIG10) looking to do it?

Locking up the rights was the ACC’s knee jerk reaction to Maryland leaving. Short sighted blunder. The bigger revenue schools should not have signed it. UNC - who truly does run the ACC should not have gone along.

Probably why the ACC didn't try to get the best Big12 teams during their turmoil. Lack of foresight and leadership. There were many in sports and even here on TNet wanting to merge the best of the Big12 with the best of the ACC. But no action from the ACC and look now, lawsuits and bolting all on the table and possible demise if the ACC.

People will believe anything. If private equity “gives” your conference 80 million dollars today it’s because they expect $100 million back in 2-3 years. They aren’t benefactors.

Yeah we've seen what private equity does with corporations. I don't see how it is advantageous for what are basically government owned sports teams.

Can you imagine a private equity group trying to seize control or take over a portion of the conference if they are unhappy with their return on investment? Forcing a coach or administration out to put one their own in charge? Gordon Gecko, man.

There's a reason Greg Sankey keeps talking against it.
You think we're entangled legally to the ACC at the moment - try an extended deal with the Big12, another GOR, and having private equity own you.
The Big 12 may need the cash infusion and not have another choice, but we voluntarily do this it would most Fiscally irresponsible thing our leaders could do.
PE doesn't just give out money for free.

First I pray for him if he is in hospice. I have said all along I wish we could stay in the ACC but the ACC has done nothing to save itself. Playing in the BIG12 would be great. Playing the four corner schools that just were added, Kansas and Kanas St. Ok State and Baylor hopefully will be back. Playing in Texas yes.

Private equity doesn’t make sense in the current environment of college football.
I don’t think FSU knows what they’re talking about when they talk about PE.
FSU doesn’t need PE investment capital. They need contracted media revenue and more of it.
