Our butts are what enable us to balance when we run and thus why we're such great long distance runners. It's why we're better runners than other primates, bigger butts.

that's why the squat(when done correctly) is considered one of the best lifts for power. speed and explosion comes from the glutes.

Interesting! I have that type of butt, and I have always been quick and sure footed. On my Dads side of the family the men had big butts and they were barrel chested. And the sport that I loved and played the most was Handball. I don't think there was a lot of money being made in that sport in the USA in my prime.

I think it was Bobby Knight that said something similar for bball players. He indicated how it allowed them to jump higher, and be able to move people around. He used that when he recruited. I'm pretty sure it was Knight that said that. It's been years ago - so sorry if wrong.
