FWIW I recently purchased about 250 square feet of T&G cedar for $900, and that was a very good price. you just have to know where to buy it

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They have to truck that kinda stuff in ladson?***

Yikes, going to shelve the shelve the idea of

doing a multi-season room.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I just did this exact project ... except

1

Sep 14, 2023, 11:32 AM

treated wood (vinyl wrapped) & asphalt shingles for 10K.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I figure its a solid $10K-$12K job.

1

Sep 14, 2023, 11:34 AM

I figured I'd have $4-$5K in materials in it if I did it myself.

And I might, if my ankle ever heals.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No ... that was the contractor price ... I didn't do nuttin***

1

Sep 14, 2023, 11:38 AM

shingles have gone up to be about the same price as metal..its about a $10k-$12k job.

Man, you ever seen UVA at home?

1

That ain’t a pergola. That is a good deal tho if that’s the finished product.

I think he called it a "patio cover"

1

Sep 14, 2023, 11:54 AM

I'm not sure the description adds any cost to the end product.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A foreign word always costs more.

1

It’s why a veranda costs more than a porch.

If I can get the back porch roof done in the spring, I may

try to look at a small pool back there in the next fall/spring '25.

But I'll need a new fence and 3 doors by then...

The FBMooch way of doing business.

Everything work out okay or do you have a mudhole?

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We can value-engineer that down a good bit. Replace the stone

3

Sep 14, 2023, 12:04 PM

columns with 5 gallon buckets of Quickrete. After it dries, just knock the plastic off. The columns, trusses, and girders can just be old railroad ties. Those aren't hard to find and pretty cheap. They hold up well in the elements too. For the roofing, that base could be made from pallets, just gotta break down 20-30 of them and keep the BEST pieces of wood, preferably ones that do not splinter. If you want to splurge, get some OSB for it. Roofing is going to be hard to value engineer down, but I have seen people throwing away old shingles at the dump. A couple opportunistic trips out there and boom, free shingles.

$2500 for labor and MAYBE $500 in materials and you have yourself a nice little patio cover.
