2018 Iptay Parking: I'm at 73 points in the Champion Level

Apr 4, 2018, 5:13 PM

($800 to $1599). My 1st year in Iptay, 1992, was a one year complimentary membership for new grads and i haven't missed a year since. I still have the free navy blue duffel bag they gave with that complimentary membership.
Parking is drastically changing every year for my giving level. Lots come, lots go, Iptay changes the giving requirement as they see fit for each particular lot. I was assigned a numbered space at Byrnes Hall for 2017. It wasn't bad. Now, CUAD shows you have to be at Tiger level or higher for Byrnes Hall.
In years past lots 13 and 14 were not really spoken fondly of as highly desired lots but now in current terms, having a parking spot in lot 13 or lot 14 year in & year out would sure seem to be terrific.
I've been looking at the 2018 parking application for a week now. Iptay will not give my any data or specific info. as to how my 73 points would rank within my Champion giving level. I really have not much of an idea other than to say i doubt it's in the top or bottom 20% for Champion.
Does anybody have any inside info. or thoughts of if there has ever been such a ranking be known by Iptay?

IPTAY doesn't just change the giving requirement "as they see fit", the giving requirement changes based on supply and demand.

There are more and more IPTAY members every year. They have now maxed out season ticket sales (season tickets are sold out), but they continue to lose parking on and around campus, which increases demand for some of the formerly less desirable lots. That in turn pushes lower donors to farther lots. The only thing they have to base the giving requirements off of are previous years, until all the requests are in.

As far as how your 73 points would rank you in the Champion giving level, I have no idea. That said, it's not going to really help you but so much. Their estimates of what level you need to be at for certain lots are pretty accurate.

You can always write in the notes in your ticket request that you would really like to be in the Byrnes Hall lot (or whichever lot you desire) if at all possible (even if you didn't donate enough and it's not actually an option in your drop down list). There's always a chance that there will still be a few spots available by the time they get to Champion donors and with you being a long time member, and a decent amount of points for Champion Level, there is always a small chance you may get assigned one of those remaining spots. The worst they can do is say no.

I've been giving to IPTAY since 2015 and I have 50 points total. I have always had a numbered spot in lot 10 and I've always been at the Howard $2400 level. My company matches up to $1000 of my donation so that is how I am able to be at that level. Now since the gov't changed the tax laws I was dropped to the champion level but I went back and increased my donation at the Tiger level. That is the required minumum for lot 10. I hope I keep my lot but I may get moved out further. Like the other person said its all about supply and demand and I know alot of others were affected by this new tax rule so it all depends on if they decide to give more to keep their level of giving the same. If not they may be pushed out and have more points than you which will push you out further.

If you go to the IPTAY website and look at the interactive map it shows you how many spots are reserved that the respective levels. For instance, Byrnes Hall had 20 spots for Tiger and 2 for Howard.

They won't because they cant.

You could be bumped by a heisman level with 30 points.

I can only say that I am 40ish point champion, I get my 1st Choice every year..lot 16.

All this talk about parking and points got me curious so I

checked my IPTAY account. I was surprised that I have been donating for 27 years and have 155 points. Time sure does fly!

I've been pretty satisfied with parking for the last 8 years. It seems like I get moved every 2 or 3 years though.

I can't wait until kickoff-Go Tigers!
