That is FAR exceeding many preseason prognostications posted on this board.

Of course we have to beat the coots, but assuming we do, that is a GREAT season.

7-1 in ANY other year of conference play would have easily put us in the title game. Undefeated on the road for only the 10th time in school history.

Finish. Strong.

I am not one of the Debbie Downers on the board. Clemson has many ACC Championships and 3 National Championships. If we win out, go 10-2 and win the bowl game; it will be a very good season but not a great season by our standards.
It would be a great season or even a historic season for many other programs. It would be very similar to many of Danny’s very good seasons. The head scratching loss to Louisville would be more similar to one of Danny’s years than the Bowden seasons people on here like to use as a comparison.
I watched Duke and NC State losses under Danny that we had no business losing.

Duke was good that yr (89). They won the ACC. It was an upset for them to beat us, but saying we had no business losing to them is maybe a bit far. They were very solid. GT that same year... not so much.

NCS in 87 was bad, though. The real head scratchers in the late 80s were GT in '89, NCS in '87, and tying Carolina in '86. There weren't that many under Ford in those years.

Everyone knew our conference and schedule was atrocious going into the season.

10-2/9-3 was the floor and its an embarrassment that we are waiting for others to mess up for us to have a shot at the pathetic ACC title. There’s still hope but should’ve never been put into other teams hands.

This season went EXACTLY how I expected. 10-2/9-3 vs a schedule where we out talent majority of the schedule and struggle with anyone that has a pulse. The same/similar issues. Different year. Lather. Rinse. Repeat for next year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

11-2 finish if win bowl, and 7-1 conf .

Not bad at all but as has been said, we should/could have done better according to Dabo’s standards.

With losses to GA, dropping one at home (most likely NC State) and then most likely losing to VT and Pitt on the road.

Many were predicting 8-4 due to defensive losses and lack of portal use. VERY few people here felt we would have a chance to go 10-2 and 7-1 in conference.

If we beat the coots then this season would have exceeded expectations for most tiger fans.

I don't recall the OP mentioning you unless you are the board.

The doom and gloom generally predicted didn't happen.

It was everything from Dabo's calling plays to Dabo is wrong to not go bidding for players before they enter the portal.

This place is a pig pen!

anyone that predicted less than 9-3 doesn't keep up enough w/ football outside of Clemson.........just like anyone who predicted some miraculous turnaround season of 12+ & 0 w/o Dabo resolving the issues that plague the program.

the MAJORITY of the board preseason was in the 9-3 & up range.................this season was no surprise for those w/o their heads in the sand.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly. Some of these posters want to keep moving the target.

The reality is 10-2 with ZERO portal players and mounting injuries would probably be one of the better coaching jobs in the country.

However, this post is null and void if we lose to the coots.

any team with a pulse we struggle with.........like I said in this conference we have a hard FLOOR in a bad year of 8-4. The only thing the wakes/pitts/cals/stanfords/cuses/UVAs/etc... of the worlds can do is close the gap, but not surpass in the NIL/Portal era against us. They are so inherently bad football program wise they'll never surpass us. Put us in the Big10/SEC then our 10-2 record likely turns to 8-4 or worse. We're insulated from our problems and it blinds Dabo from them which will continue to cap us from being "ELITE" again unless he changes his ways.

Why do you care so much about Clemson football when clearly don’t watch college football? FFS. Our SOS is 35th not great but not Sisters of the Poor. We’re 11th in ELO, 12th on ESPN Power Rankings and 14th on Massey Rankings. We’re almost certainly bound for the playoffs with a victory of SCar. Just the absolute dumbest MFers on the planet polluting this board.

Irony. You apparently don’t realize Clemson goes to Charlotte with a Miami loss and if we win the ACCCG, we make the playoffs. Is that so hard to understand? Still lol?

I agree with you. The Louisville loss killed our chances.
Also we play the coots who
Is probably playing better than anybody right now and if people can’t see it it’s their ignorance of football. I pray Clemson is well prepared for the coots. Playing at death valley isn’t as tough for opponents as it used to be. I
Hope we can get some injured players back

SMU undefeated in their inaugural season..

picked up by the ACC last minute, no last second and is on their way to an undefeated conference reg season record. That's evidence of our schedule difficulty, of course we have 4 common opponents 1 being a W > Louisville and the other 3 their margin of victory was 10+ pts higher than ours was.
On the road, nothing to play for but an insignificant bowl game, Brohm's what 2nd year so he's had 1 rec class + TP(they use effectively) but there are holes on their O & D. Their coaching staff one that game against significant odds #2 factor is talent level discrepancy but that means less and less: half time adjustments meh, when's the last time we outschemed anybody? We should be better prepared on O & D, since we have the extra practice time leftover that most schools alott for ST drills(for the last decade)

That would exceed my original expectations. Preseason, my pick was 10-3 best case, and 9-4 more likely. I still feel like that is the range where it will fall but hoping for better.

Only 4 road wins, we got boatraced by dawgs on neutral field. We beat WF, VT, FSU and Pitt on the road - big deal.

To much worse opponents.

We can't keep moving the target. If we're going to go with the premise that our talent is now "much worse" and recruiting is falling off, then we have to give our coaching staff credit for continuing to win.

Our conference is garbage and our team functions like a 2 wheeled bus.***

Yep. I predicted 9-3 and possibly a 10th win in a bowl game. Did not foresee us winning the ACC. Just too much to prove on offense. Looks like that prediction may come true. Win or loose to the coots, most likely not gonna make the ACC championship game. At this juncture, I’m thinking 10 -2 and probably a trip to the gator bowl. Win 11 it’s a great season

Every season is defined by the coot game outcome. If we only beat one P5 opponent and it is them, I am happy. The rest of the games are about who has the most money. The coot game is about good vs. evil.
