lol, Virginia is not southern? General Lee was from Virginia . Virginia was the capital of the confederacy, Virginia was one of the most prominent southern planting states. And if you’ve ever gone to West Virginia, and don’t think those people are southern, you’re out of your mind

Depends where ones reference point is. Historically, it has been the Mason Dixon line that separates north from south.

The key word is “deep” South. Virginia is not in the Deep South. I consider it South although it borders Maryland and DC.
