Rankings - Week 9

Oct 28, 2012, 10:12 PM

Here are our rankings, updated with the weekend's games. Clemson comes in at #10, which is really #9 since we also include Ohio State.

Florida at 3?

Why?

Re: Florida at 3?

Mainly because they are 3-1 vs top 12 teams, including the beat down of USC. Notre Dame's best win was Oklahoma, which is only 14. Also, they were a good bit ahead of #3 last week and needed to fall further to be passed.

Think Oregon will pass them if they stay undefeated, but unless UGA loses, which sends them to Atlanta where they get a shot at Alabama, they are done in the National Championship debate...

I see. That seems logical. I'm just not a big fan of when a team loses to someone and is still ranked ahead of them. (Provided they are already fairly close in rank to begin with.) I know UGA got beat badly by South Carolina, and Florida crushed South Carolina, but UGA won the head to head match up. Therefore, I believe they should be ranked higher than Florida. Notre Dame and Oregon are also undefeated, and Florida just lost in an ugly game against Georgia, but they are still worthy of being #3? I don't disagree with the logic behind it, but I just don't see that position being justifiable for Florida.

I totally get that, and anytime you have three teams who go all round robin on each other, then what do you do? Florida performed the best against the other two (no blowout loss). Personally, I think all three are too high, but I can justify the rankings based on their resumes.

only one poll means anything from here on out..bcs..tigers are #13..the blood bath wil lcontinue as the mighty e$ecpn teams continue to knock each other off the big task is for fsu and cu to win out and beat fla. and the chickens & all will be well..it's all about the SEC and bama.. the nfl of college fb..polls are nice..bowls are nice..but as dabo says ..we ain't bama. yet .and i doubt even if every team ramked ahead of clemson continued to lose..that you would want to see a repeat of the game that ended it for t. bowden....careful for what you wish for..
