Had the worst chain restaurant experiences, twice, I ever had at different

Dennys.

First time was out in Dodge City, Kansas. Family went in, sat down, and for literally 45 minutes, without them even being busy, no one came over to our booth to take an order, anything. And the cashier was looking over her glasses at us most of that time. It was not until we got up to leave that she "suddenly" noticed us, but it was too late then, I told her I had seen her watching us, and out the door we went.

It was about a year later before I decided to give Denny's another chance. This was not long after that lawsuit was brought by the black clients who claimed discrimiination. Well, at the Denny's we went to, they had certainly taken the message to heart. We WASPS were being completely ignored, while the wait staff fawned over their black customers. At least we finally got some food that time, after awhile.

The food ain't that good, either, people. If I want to treat my stomach to that kind of fare, plenty of other options. We have a Shoney's here in the Burg that has been around a LONG time. It ain't elite cuisine, but if you enter a Shoney's thinking elite, you are already lost.

Not long after Denny's opened a location near us, My wife and I gave it a try. Went one morning when it was packed. We were seated quickly, but after about 15 minutes, nobody had brought us water or coffee or menus or anything. It was obvious the place was fairly new and they didn't have everything figured out just yet. We waited another 15 minutes or so and finally walked out.

My across the street neighbor, Betty, who was black, and a history professor at a local college, told a different tale. She and a group of friends had gone to the same Denny's, and were ignored because they were black, a clear case of racial discrimination. She and her friends were discussing a lawsuit, don't know how that ever turned out.
