OK, this has been gnawing at me for about 50 years – haha. I was at CU 1966-70. Back in the day, you could (often?) walk out onto the practice field and watch them practice – basically right in the middle of the players, as I remember. Of course, I used to love to watch the QB’s throwing and running plays. HERE’s MY QUESTION... “3-88, 3-88… Hike!” ...That QB bark I heard constantly. It’s never left my brain. Hep’ me => WHAT PLAY DID THAT MEAN??? Hep’ me, QB’s and other OFF. Players. Don’t let me die before I know what “3-88” meant!! ------ I just Googled to this list of the QB’s for those years I was there: 1966 Jimmy Addison QB: 103 Cmp, 186 Att, 1491 Yds, 10 TD 1967 Jimmy Addison QB: 82 Cmp, 174 Att, 924 Yds, 5 TD 1968 Billy Ammons QB: 74 Cmp, 162 Att, 1006 Yds, 5 TD 1969 Tommy Kendrick QB: 107 Cmp, 227 Att, 1457 Yds, 10 TD 1970 Tommy Kendrick QB: 133 Cmp, 267 Att, 1407 Yds, 8 TD

I played HS QB mid to late 70s. I was supposed to start all counts with the defense formation, usually 5-4 or 6-2. Most of the time i just used 5-4. Have no idea what 3-88 meant. Remember Tommy Kenricks well. Special memory of watchinghim beat usc 17-7 in '71.
