Question about the Clemson HR that didn't count?

Would it be possible that Backich could protest the UGA win on the grounds of umpire unfair bias toward Clemson to help out his conference by taking away a HR that video evidence clearly shows the ball in fair territory when it goes over the fence...I'm pretty sure the rule is that it don't matter where the ball hits the ground at as long as it was in fair territory when it went over the fence, and the video they looked at CLEARLY shows the ball was in fair territory when it cleared the fence...

That Home Run would have had Clemson leading the game after UGA made their last out in the bottom of the 9th inning, and that means that Clemson wins by the score of 4-3...

All the NCAA would need to know after viewing the video is, who would have been ahead in the game when UGA completed the bottom of the 9th inning, and that would have been Clemson 4-3 game over bc the extra innings would've never been with the right call by the umps bc the ball was clearly fair when it cleared the fence!!!

Personally, I hope that they're really pisssed off by the way that sooner dog game was stollen from them by those slimy dog crap eating SEC umpires.

I don't know about anyone else, but I personally feel good about how clear the video was that clearly shows how willing the "SEC Umps" are about stealing a game for their SEC conference members when playing against an opponent in another conference that's not a member of the SEC!!!

It's always good when the evidence is there that proves the umps stole the game and we're not just crying and accusing the umps of making bad calls as an excuse for losing that game bc the evidence is there and clear enough that if people can be honest with what they see, they can't deny the game was stollen bc it truly was, and most people would rather lose a game than know they won bc someone cheated their opponent for them to win the game. There is doubt the SEC umps cheated and lied for UGA to have a W in their win/lose column bc they didn't win the game, it was stollen!!!

As much as it sucked you can’t assume if that HR being corrected in replay would not have impacted the remainder of the game. Likely it helps create more momentum for the Tigers but it could do the opposite. Thus, it’s done and now time to turn the page.

If it had of been, there wouldn't have been a 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, or 14th inning bc we would have won in regulation 9 innings!!!

Making the right call and giving Purify a homerun doesn't guarantee a 4-3 Clemson win. If the 2nd inning had continued maybe we mount a two out rally and score 3 more runs and win comfortably. Or maybe the next batter gets out and Blake Wright doesn't come up with two runners on a few innings later hit a double and give us a lead. All of that is moot anyway because there's no mechanism in place to reverse the outcome of a game because of a blown call.

The head baseball coach at Clemson University could comment that it looked to him like it cleared the field in fair territory. He could then go on to comment about how it happened early in the game and Clemson had other opportunities to score and didn't. He could say it was a tough break and his team has work to do but they will bounce back and be stronger.

Or, he could petition omeone to try to get the call overturned and Clemson awarded the win on the grounds that the ump was biased (or put another way, cheated). You can decided which of those you think is the better look.

None of them are good looks. That why Bakich will probably just move on. I'm sure this isn't the first time in his career that a game was lost, or probably lost, on a bad call. I'm guessing he's not going to dwell on it.

Looked like a homer to me.

I'm sure in his career, and that of every coach of every sport, he's been on the bad side of a bad call. He may take issue with it privately with the ACC or SEC, but there is no upside to him publicly calling the ump a cheat and demanding reversal of the game result. He, like most people past middle school age, have move past "we only lost because the ref cheated."

Clemson lost because Clemson didn’t hit the ball with RISP for about 13 innings straight. Hard to have that many scoreless innings and expect to win a game. Pitching staff did a fantastic job holding a good UGA offense in check.

The umps were trash. The guy behind the plate had 2 different strike zones, depending on which team was hitting. Wright and Canarella both got rung up on terrible calls in their last AB. The Georgia player that scored the tying run watched one thigh high over the middle of the plate with 2 strikes and ended up on base later in the AB. The HR call was bad in real time and even worse given the fact it was watched on replay and upheld. I have to tell my 12 year old every weekend that if he barrels the ball up and hits it like he should, he’ll take the umpire judgement out of the game. I used to say that was true 100% of the time, but I’ll have to modify that to 99% of the time.

No need for coach to say anything about it. If that was an elimination game in a regional or super regional and the season was over, maybe, but not ahead of a big weekend series.

If sports FB or baseball were games where you could pick your spots where you could just add a score, stealing a HR just wouldn't matter all that much either bc we could wait until our other scoring slot came around. But the way that those games work with scoring, points are very hard to come by, and that's way you're always happy when you do!!!

Sad that these umpires can't look at a replay and make the right call much less that the ump on the third base line could not see it when it happened. It is over and Clemson can take pride in knowing that really they won the game. However, the umps involved should be suspended from calling games for a number of weeks as it is obvious they were not up to the standard of college baseball umpires.
