even though John Q. Public has a weak basis for favoring Alabama. Knowing that people will put their money there, Vegas tries to get ahead of them to cut its losses. They are not so much predicting the game as predicting what the public perceives about the two teams involved. Good point – even more reason to expect a great outcome for us Tiger fans…

the public (small bets) is favoring Clemson here while the big money players jumped on Bama early when the line opened at -1.5. Similar number of bets placed on each team, but the vast majority of the money on the Tide.

I don't know if that is accurate. I follow several sites on where the money is coming from. There is a lot of conflicting data on this. All seem to agree more money has been bet on Bama, some say public is on Clemson, some say majority of bets were on Bama. I believe everyone is betting Bama, big money and Joe Public. I also suspect many sharps will jump in at the end and bet Clemson heavy. We will see.

Make no mistake- Vegas ONLY cares about winning money. they look at this purely from an analytical perspective and set the lines accordingly. There is absolutely zero credence given to public opinion- only statistical probability of winning money. The lines move based on action taken by the public in such a way as to mathematically protect the house and guard against paying out more than they take in...that's it. If anything- they benefit from the emotions of fans who tend to struggle to separate their rooting interests from the equation.

OP, there is one thing I know is trues regarding your post. You referenced Qualk and every word after that was compromisex and tainted. I wouldn't by water from Qualk in the desert. Slimy, no-nothing. Thinks he has Philpots talent...bless his heart.
