QB choice of O'Cain over Fuller in '69 is case where

HC Red Parker "mistakenly" after the fact went with senior Mike O'Cain and lost 6 games..while young but full-of-talent Steve Fuller *might" have gotten Clemson more wins.
Ironic that the famous HOF #4 jersey is involved again in a young super talent vs a less talented senior player scenario!
I like & respect senior Cole Stoudt very much for what he brings to the field & team..but from what I've seen so far is that freshman Watson has that spark & innate ability that separates him from the norm & being a natural winner..thus, using the excuse that the present HC (DaBO) knows what's best based on Spring & Fall practice results may be flawed & even show bias. Talent is talent..and Watson was #1 in USA for 2-way
High school QB, I believe. How was Stoudt rated?
I understand not ditching a loyal & talented senior for a super-talented rookie..but the bottom line is team victories..and IMO we will be hard pushed to beat FSU, UNC, Louis & SC if we depend on using Cole most of the time.
Watson is like the wild fire that can take wind and conquer all in its path if lucky...while Stoudt is the safe fire extinquisher that will save your #### most of the time if it's got enough foam.

ahhh.. red's first year at CU was 1973. the first year ocain lettered was 74. the first year fuller lettered was 75.

Also, if memory serves me correctly it was Mike O'Cain and Mark Fellers that were involved. I might be wrong. Your point however is well taken.

Ya know, there IS a possibility that the coaches have a strategy with our QB's that will be beneficial for this year and years to come.
Maybe this strategy and philosophy of CDS might actually attract and ensure a steady flow of Top-Notch QB's to the Clemson Tiger Football Program for years to come which is a crucial step for us to become and maintain ELITE status in the CFB world.
Just a thought for sensible consideration....

think Fuller played most of his games under Pell. I can't remember, but I believe someone tore us a new one in his first game. Alabama beat the crap out of us in 75 but Fuller was not the qb. Heck, I don't believe we won more than a couple of games that year.

Leave me alone for my bulb has dimmed what with all this prior, useless & time absorbing posting on our beloved TNet.
Know that my fun but worn out 1993 Boston-Whaler Jet 14' Rage boat is running again after 6 yrs down..after a complete overhaul by LBB all Summer..with another Yamaha 650cc/50hp engine, motor mounts, drive shaft, electrical box, new wiring harness, rebuilt carb, prop & water housing, rear reverse housing, cables, battery, water & exhaust muffler, fuel filter, fuel lines, starter, etc...
So life is good again for me personally on the ICW @ Hilty Head Island..whether Stoudt or Watson start!
I do care for Clemson winning...especially vs SC Coots..so let's hope one of these 2 QB's get it done!!
