Friday night, to Shoeless for beer share then Home Team for supper. Nice night.
Saturday off to Clover to visit with my Aunt. She never married, never had kids, so if nobody invites her for holiday events it can be pretty lonely. I told my cousins, who live about a 5 minute walk away that Sharkgirl and I were booked up for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year so they needed to invite her. Found out they did not, no body did anything for her birthday either so we went for a visit. It was a nice time.
Sunday, up early-ish but didn't really get moving until late. Didn't get many errands done but did make it to the grocery store to get stuff for beef stew to combat this cold weather.

Which is good
Friday went up to FENCE for a short walk and then to Tryon for some Mountain View BBQ.
Saturday lazy morning then some piddling around in the garage trying to organize stuff. Wound up making it worse. Fell asleep watching football
Sunday standard day with mom then fell asleep to football again

Friday...met fam and son-of's GF and daughter-of's friend for dinner at Longhorn.
Sat...made a good brekfess for me and wife-of. Daughter-of spent night at friends and son-of is 17 yo boy that wakes up as late as possible on the weekends. Had Safelite guy come to house to replace rear window in minivan due to son-of backing into neighbors mailbox (neighborhood has big brick mailboxes) rest of damage will be handled later. Returned wife's rental car due to wreck. Watched Clemson BB get a good road win in OT after playing a crappy 2nd half. Pick daughter up and take her to school 'cause she has a BB game at and has to be there for pre-game meal and they had a pre-game speaker. Take son-of and GF to mall to meet other emo friends. Back to get wife and then to daughter's HS to watch her game. She had been in a bit of a slump, but last game and this game broke out big time...they got a good win over Dorman. Hit the esteemed Red Lobster for post-game dinner...was decent actually. Picked up son and GF at mall restaurant...took his GF home and then crashed hard in the bed.
Sun...lazy AF in morning. Took kids and friends to Messican for lunch, watched NFL games, fixed some stuff around house, sammies for dinner...crashed hard again.

The weekends over? Friday got new foam for chair cushion. Made a big mess cutting it to fit cover. Everybody was complaining about their a$$ hurting when sitting in chair. No more. Made chicken wild rice soup. Thumbs up from Mrs. Stepson still wit succubus. Sattidy watched feetball. Shocked by Washington. That Daniels is one cool QB. He gives them a good shot vs Eaglets. Barkley is a bad man. Watched Mor feetball Sunday. Bills barely got by Lamar. Wanted to see Mor snow. Today making split pea soup wit ham. Got heavy hoodie on to keep cold off old bones. Calling for lite snow Tuesday evening here in Sandhills. We will see. Stay warm everybody. Remember empty your lint traps.

Good on you for remembering people like your aunt. There are probably far more neglected and lonely family members out there than any of us feel comfortable believing. I've never been great about this stuff, but I'm trying to be better. You're wise and considerate beyond your years (seriously).
Oh yeah, people have given us way too much food (see? that consideration thing?), so more leftover soup today. Fortunately, all of it has been good.

Friday - nothing
Saturday - Made breakfast for the fam. And albeit two weeks in, got started on the new year. Went through clothes without any hesitation or discretion. Either yea or nay. Can't wear it-Won't wear it. filled a 30-gal trash bag of clothes headed for Goodwill. Organized our bonus room and made room for the Schwinn Dynaglide I bought from a neighbor for $100 (hit that at 5:30 this morning). Put a pot roast in the Crockpot and watched a little of our BB game. Gave House of Dragons another try. Made it through the first season finally. Not as good as GOT. Caught a little of the playoff games.
Sunday - Church, roast beef sandwich with the leftovers, a couple more episodes of House of Dragons, more football.
Monday - thus far got up and hit the bike. will do my version of two-a-days and hit the gym after work.
BTW - Started dry January per DR visit this past Wed. Dry since then.

Friday: Played golf, shot a 79 in the freezing cold with a triple bogey on hole 8.
Saturday: Dropped kiddo and doggo off at in-laws and drove to Lake Lure to look at properties.
Sunday: Looked at more properties, drove home.
Found a couple we're making some decisions on right now.

Township of Chimney Rock banned short term rentals for 2025, there's one property we really like that's there that we walked to, but that'll have to have some harder decisions.
Amazing the work they've done to clear everything and work on clearing the lake. Spoke with several locals, the only hiccups they've had have been the magat idiot non-locals coming into town demanding the town tell the truth about lithium mines and why FEMA hasn't been helping, disrupted their first town hall post hurricane with that.
But yeah, two of the properties we like are up high on a ridge.

LL is about 40 minutes from me and a spot we like to go to often.
My good friend lost his sister and her house (a family get away place for 60 years that she was living in) in Chimney Rock. He’s asked me to go up with him the first time he goes back to see it. Will be hard. We spent many weekends there over the years and he grew up spending summers there, compounding the grief of losing his sister.
That lithium BS is so crazy. Imagine having to deal with that on top of the real problems.

Friday - had to work late, but it was fun work, so I wasn't mad about it. Got home about 9pm and watched TV with the wife. Then I went to the pub with the boys for 2 beers and a shot and walked back home.
Saturday - woke up super happy I left the bar, the boys went to two other bars after I left. Made breakfast for the kiddos and then went to the gym. Took my son to the local high school and we threw football in the gym, which was a lot of fun. Lunch was easy leftovers from Friday. Dinner was tacos. Started drinking for the Lions game.
Lions lost. Not talking about anything else.
Sunday - church with my son. Gym. Football watching as kids were at a birthday party almost all afternoon. Local pubs with wife and kids for dinner. Watched more football and went to bed at 930.
Awesome weekend with a 3 hour period of pure ####.

Friday, long evening stroll with pup after work, made homemade pizza, drank bourbon and started watching King of Tupelo on Netflix, fell asleep in the Big Chair.
Saturday, chores most of the day, did a nice long hike off-trail bushwhacking through the woods with the pup along the river, was planning to go to the Thirsty Beaver Saturday night but Mrs. wasn't feeling great so watched football instead.
Sunday, hiked pup along the trails at Lake Park in the morning, grocery run and errands, then off to the Thirsty Beaver to see Disco Black and The Pintos. Disco Black is an all-originals garage punk trio from Gastonia that I'd never heard of, but they absolutely killed it. The Pintos are a local Charlotte band that does very cool covers...Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Paul Westerburg/Replacement, Steve Wynn/Dream Syndicate, etc. They've been around for years and have played the Beaver many times but last night was my first time catching them. Very fun band and a great setlist!
Not the most exciting weekend overall, but live music at the Thirsty Beaver bumped it up to 19/19 Covids.

Friday - grilled steak and served with loaded baked potatoes
Saturday - Scottish Highland Games is perhaps the most fun event of the year. 30 thousand or so people turn out. Drinking beer with tomato juice in it by 10:30a. We put our chairs out by the bands and just watch people and music all day. Got really drunk, then came home and watched football and Tiger hoops on DVR. We would be regular Brownell this year without Chase Hunter. Thai food for dinner, yay
Sunday - football and fam, was really quite lazy
19/19 COVIDS because live music and morning drinking. If you like cool music, try Albannach, although there is no digeredoo in this video

Friday - Went to pick up my new-to-me drill press from a robotics guy who builds battle bots. Pretty interesting stuff, plus he had rebuilt the drill press so it's solid. Got home and my neighbor brought over a 6-inch jointer, disk/belt sander combo, and a scroll saw from his FIL's estate for $50.
Saturday - Little league sign-ups in the morning. Then I cleaned up the tools and made a bunch of items to sell in a store in town. With my new tools and layout, I made 18 of these things in the time it would have taken me to make 5 so that's a plus.
Sunday - Picked up a new-to-me table saw from Facebook for $100. Cleaned it up and made a few adjustments and it's pretty great. Went over to my neighbor's to give him the cash for the tools and he gave me a Freud biscuit jointer that was basically new in the case from his FIL as well.
Now I have an 8" Drill Press and a Craftsman table saw for sale if anyone is interested.
Pretty good weekend in the shop.

Friday night son of spent the night with grandparents and husband took daughter to her team practice so KMS got to enjoy an evening home alone. Ordered takeout sushi, read a good book. It was my perfect kind of night.
Saturday up early and to a horsey competition. Daughter of joined a team for their last competition of the season, she got 1st place in her specialty area which helped place her team 1st overal and qualified them for post season competition. Pretty freakin happy for her, and made sitting around waiting all day for her to compete for 15 minutes worth it. The icing on the cake was her team is new to the organization (IEA) and the more established teams down south in old money horse country (Wellington) were not very welcoming so it was nice to beat them soundly.
Sunday woke up to a very sick kiddo, so spent yesterday just doing laundry and meal prep and getting ready for the week. I'm the only one in the household without a day off today, so that stinks.
