PSA: the Big 12 results are meaningless to the national playoff picture

So everyone please stop mentioning them in relation to us or anyone else getting into the playoff. The big 12 is getting 1 slot and the results today only change who that 1 slot could go to. Does not change anything for the other leagues.

I get teams get bids for winning their conference, but it’s also about being high enough in the rankings that you get in. Any team in front of us losing is helpful in that front.

No that does not help either. Here's the way it works. You look at the top 25 ranking, and you cross out the 5 highest ranked conference champions. The end of all the remaining teams, The top 7 of that group The at large bids. The conference champions have no effect on the at large bids.

It’s the 4 highest ranked conference champions, and the highest ranked G5 champ. If the G5 champ is one of the four highest ranked conference champs… the remaining power 5 champ could be left out…
That’s why the playoff predictor has a scenario where we win the ACC but lose to SC, and get left out.

all four conference champs will get in. for the bye if the g5 champ is ranked higher than say the big12 team they will get the bye and the big 12 team would not. but as is every conference champ gets an automatic in

Unless the top 5 conference champs end up being sec, big10, ACC, mountain west (boise and American (Tulane). Still all that means is no big12 teams get in.

so there will be 4 conference champs from the big, big 12, sec and acc. then you have the group of 5 champ

If boise state and Tulane end up ranked higher than the big 12 champ then they both get in and big 12 is left out. Boise out of mountain west, Tulane out of American. Sec and big ten champ and I assume ACC champ still ranked higher than big 12 champ

The reason it says that is because currently clemson is ranked #17 and army in tulane out of the American conference are ranked 19th and 20th respectively. The problem is that, The champions from the SEC, big 10, big 12, mountain west, and American conference, could all 5 be ranked ahead of clemson even though clemson was the ACC championship champion.

Any team above us losing when we win helps our cause. So Colorado which would be the media Cinderella's pick lost today. BYU lost as well and both should fall under us in the rankings at this point. Few more losses this week and next we are in the top 12 but we have to win first.
