That is a tradition for many.
It is for me, and I do not apologize.

Hotdogs aint healthy for folks. I have been eating too many for 78 years and doing OK.

Fireworks aint healthy for folks, see above.
They aint as loud as the many thunderstorms we get here (hoping for one right now).
I live on the lake and probably hear more than most of yall. I might fire one up there myself from time to time.

Dogs and horses out with hunters get used to noise. Some of my cats don't approve, but they don't approve of a lot of things.

On the 4th I want hotdogs and fireworks.
Yall weenies just need to suck it up and stop being so bu tt hurt over too many things.

knowing it is raising my cholesterol and clogging my arteries. But they're so easy to get and too good to quit 100 percent all the time. As long as it's not a habit or a lifestyle, some of life's little pleasures can not be ignored completely.

Highly processed foods like hot dogs and potato chips are not the best choice for daily diet.
Neither is meat and sugar, processed or not.

Folks hear and believe what they choose as to all things.

I eat less meat than most all my life, not to be healthy. I eat what appeals to me. I grew up in a Mill Hill on beans and potatoes, still prefer that type diet.

I don't drink soda, but like beer and eat ice cream most days.
I eat fast food maybe a couple times a year, but used to eat it everyday when I had a job.

Cholesterol is believed to be bad, I think the same as to statins.
I don't take any prescribed meds. I probably need some, sure most pill pushing doctors would be willing to add me to their list.
My doctor died ten years back, need to find a new one.

Red meat is actually extremely good for you

Despite what the rest of the world says, it only contains 3% saturated fat. We all need to eat more Whole Foods and not listen to everyone with agendas. Eggs are amazing for you, red meat is as well, dairy— great for you… just stay away from processed foods (in moderation is fine)

Best I have seen was at Fort Sill.
It was a night display of weapons, folks sat in bleachers. It was awesome.

I saw an awesome "Fireworks" show in the early 1980's. The state of NC had purchased an abandoned college in the sleepy town of Salemburg, NC to build a Justice Academy. It was in the middle of farm country...about 30 miles from Ft Bragg. The location was justified in that "...existing buildings could be utilized to save money..." But with all things governmental that proved to not be the case and the old dorms were set to be demolished. It was announced that a "Training Exercise" would be conducted by Delta Force on a Saturday morning and the public was invited to watch. I decided to attend.

On the apppointed day I arrived to find a single set of bleachers facing the targeted dorm. There were maybe 15 people there to observe. A podium had been set up and a nerdy-looking soldier was standing at attention upon it. He was to be the emcee. The dorm was painted with "Death to America" and other such anti-American slogans popular to the Iranians at that time. "Terrorists" with heads wrapped in towels carried large guns as they patrolled the grounds, or looked outside the windows. The emcee welcomed us and promised a good show. "It'll be quick..." he said.

At exactly noon, three huge helicopters came out of nowhere over the treetops! One landed and troops spilled out. Another came 3-4 feet from the ground and the troops jumped out. The third hovered overhead and troops slid down long ropes to the top of the building. Radio communications came from every direction. There were smoke bombs, gunfire, and grenades exploding. In a matter of three minutes the soldiers all came out with a number of "hostages" (I expect the terrorist had changed roles). The helicopters dropped back down and loaded up everyone, and they were gone...just like that. "Building clear! Building clear!!!" blasted from the radio. The emcee said 'You may want to cover your ears..." We did. In about 1 minute the building imploded and shot a tornado of dust and papers so far into the sky the papers disappeared! When the dust cleared the 7-story dorm was a neat pile of block, bricks, and twisted pipes. If anyone had set up a desk to sign up for the Army I would have joined right then and there!

As we left I asked the emcee where all of the thousands of papers came from. He shrugged his shoulders and said they were likely ripped pages from old books left inside.

PS...Tug...I have nothing against responsible people celebrating with fireworks. But there is a TIME and a place. No one wants to hear my lawn mower, leaf blower, or weedeater at 11pm or midnight..though I have the capabilities to run all three. It's called consideration.

Are we talking about the million dollar minute? Probably 100 million in today’s terms.
