Its very hard to believe that the so called experts had Cade rated as a 5 star quarterback. Sometimes its more about who you know versus what you know. Cade is a borderline 3 star at best.

Not really, if you look at his HS stats and leading his team to 3 state championships in talent rich Texas, and then see him in top form coming out on top at the Elite 11 of top QBs in the country, it made perfect sense. DJ was the same way. They were lights out in HS at really good programs but for some reason, that did not translate to the college game.

So these QBs from that class would have been really learning the QB position during peak of COVID disruption. Less close contact. Other distractions. Etc.
So that is the blame.
I do not want to have any of the following people who had first year or so of their critical learning during peak of COVID ..
Surgeon
Doctor
Nurse
Engineer
Architect
Dentist
Physical Therapist
In med school during that time, many of the first year med students did not have Gross Anatomy. They did not work or learn from cadavers or in group settings. They did not touch a body.
I blame COVID for Cade's struggles and slower decision making.

The reality is that most highly ranked HS QBs are disappointments as collegiate players. Sure some years are worse than others but most years the majority of the top rated 10 QB recruits are duds in college.

Maybe the 2022 class had more busts than usual, but players having an extra "covid year" and being able to easily transfer probably has something to do with it as well. No need to start that young QB when you can get a proven 4th/5th-year guy in the portal.

The OP made me look back. The 2018 High School QB class that included TL16 had three 5 star QBs per 247. All 3 are currently in the NFL - TL16, Justin Fields and JT Daniels.
Michael Penix was a 3 star from HS class of 2018 and currently in the NFL.
The 2014 High School QB class that included DW4 as a 4 star, had one 5 star QB and he is currently in the NFL, Kyle Allen. DW4 is the only other QB in the top 10 QB rankings from 2014 currently in the NFL.
