Some things in life just put football in perspective
Feb 4, 2014, 11:23 AM
|
|
Any other year I'd be excited about NSD. Reading the articles, twitter updates etc. Today my wife and I were scheduled to welcome our first child into the world, however, 2 weeks ago we found out that would not happen. My wife and I lost our baby girl unexpectedly just days before her due date. Now the Clemson news and games that I followed daily seem miniscule.
You do try and move on and get back to normal (which is why I even logged on today) but it isn't the same and probably won't be for a while. Maybe by August I'll be able to be excited again for football news and a new season.
Please keep my family in your prayers and hug your little ones tight this evening. Heaven knows I wish I could.
Take care Tnet. I'll be around.
Go Tigers!

I have been there and know what you are going through. At times you just have to be tougher than you think you can and you will survive this and other bad times. Having a solid marriage will make it easier for you both.

You have my condolences, may God be with you and your wife and family and he will. A good friend of mine had the same misfortune. The next pregnancy, they had twins, a boy and a girl. Time, patience, perseverance and trust in God will accomplish all things. You will be blessed with children in the future.

has been a strange source of comfort for me during some really tough times. Not only were the kind words from fellow t-netters truly comforting, but t-net was also sort of a reminder that the world does keep on turning. We'll be here for you when you are ready; until then, thoughts and prayers your way.

You said it well about perspective. There's nothing I can say that can help you as I have never experienced what you and your wife are going through. However, be assured that God hurts when we hurt and only He can provide comfort and peace in times like this.

While not the same, we lost a child within the first three months of pregnancy. We didn't yet know the sex of the baby, nor had she developed much of a baby bump. We had not even told people yet.
But there was an emotional bond that had already been established even within those first couple of months, so I know your grief is excrutiating.
It will take a while, but your grief will eventually subside, though never totally leave.
I will pray for you with the hope that you will be reunited in the next life.

Friday, my wife and I will "celebrate" our little girls 4th birthday. The problem is, she will not be here. We lost her 18 days later. I'm going to tell you, you hurt everyday. I don't think my marriage will recover and I lost the two women I love more than anyone that day. I urge you to be there for your wife and hold her, cry with her, pray together. More than likely, my family will soon dissolve (we have a 2 1/2 yr. old boy) and the life I love will perish. Please seek couseling together and build a strong bond of love and comfort with your wife. Please try again to build a family. We lost our little girl and God blessed us with a wonderful young man. I'm praying and shedding tears as I type. MFO

We've read stories like this and can't imagine how painful it would have been to have lost her after birth. While this hurt we feel is tougher than anything we've endured, I imagine it doesn't even begin to compare to what you and your wife went through and I am deeply sorry that it happened to you. I hope everything will eventually work out for your family.
My wife and I feel like we are closer over the last 2 weeks and we will certainly work hard to keep it that way. And we will be trying again for another child.
Thank you for your kind words.

While I have never experienced anything as bad as what you're going through my sister-in-law did. I grieved with her and her entire family and I could never understand how God could let something like that happen. I am a Christian and I have total belief in God but I don't prescribe to everything being preordained but many times God uses these type tragedies for good. A couple of years after my sister-in-law lost her baby she and her husband were at an event of some sort and talking with one of their friends who told them that the day she lost her baby he was preparing to kill himself. After he heard her news and visited them in the hospital he decided if they could survive losing their baby he could live through the issues that had driven him to the edge of taking his life. He now has a family himself. So while nothing will ever explain how such a terrible tragedy can happen maybe someone will find strength in your strength. May God comfort you through the coming days, months and years.

There's nothing I can say to help you feel better, but just know that I just lifted some prayers up for you, your wife, and that little angel.
But yes, it puts everything in perspective. Clemson fans, South Carolina fans, and all people can certainly sympathize with the pain you feel. I know I am blessed to have a son, who's initials are GWP. And I will hug him tightly. But right now, as I am sure you're experiencing, it's good to grieve and be thankful for the gifts you have. It's hard to do a lot of times, but during difficult times you have to have faith in God's plan.
During a difficult time in my life my best friend sat me down and told me "If He will take you to it, He will get you through it." I echo davidhood's sentiments that if there is anything I can do other than offer prayers, let me know.
God bless my friend.

All I can say is that it will get better and easier as time heals all wounds. I know it doesn't help now, but one day you will make better sense of it and be able to appreciate your future blessings. We certainly have.

My wife had a miscarriage in 2006 but we've been blessed with two wonderful children. You have to put your faith in God that he has a plan and he does. I can also tell you that no matter how hard this is on you that your wife is hurting much more. They are wired different for a reason for child bearing and I'm certain she feels like she has let you down. Take some time to nurture your marriage and put her on a pedestal. God will bless you more than you can fathom. Praying for you.

That is devastating
Feb 4, 2014, 7:50 PM

|
12 years ago, a week before Easter, my wife miscarried. We had planned to announce the pregnancy at Easter. As we sat down to dinner that Sunday, my brother-in-law announced that he and his wife were expecting. That felt like a kick in the gut, but she was still in her first trimester...and as sad as we were for ourselves, we were happy for their news. Long story short, my wife delivered a healthy baby girl at Christmas of that year...two months after our nephew was born.
I can't begin to imagine the hurt you feel, but I hurt for you. You will be a parent eventually, and you will treasure that child (or those children) even more having been through this.
This is a dark time, but this, too, shall pass. God loves you, and I do, too. Hang in there.

So sorry for your lost. June 8, 2005 my wife gave birth to a stillborn little girl "Emma". Thinks like this does put life in perspective and know there will be better days with time. Lean on your faith and God will see you and your family threw this. God Bless

I lost a child too before it was born albeit under different circumstances that I won't get into. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him or her. Some days are worst than others but I take comfort in knowing that one day we will be united. Don't ever be afraid to talk about it and let people help and comfort you. Don't know if you have a relationship with Christ or not but that has helped me tremendously.

My prayers are with you. Ironically, I remember from sociology class at Clemson many years ago friends and even family often under estimate the grief that a loss like this is for the parents. It is hard to understand now, but somehow it is in God's plan for your family.

My family will be praying for yours. May you feel His peace and tangibly experience His presence, love, mercy, and healing through this. Very sorry to hear about this.

The only thing I can say is take your time grieving, stay close to Mrs CU and know that things will get better. We had 2 miscarriages before we were blessed with 2 healthy pregnancies and now were are expecting our 3rd. It was a trying time for us that tested our patience and our marriage in some aspects. In hindsight it is the tough times that make it even that much more special in the end. It will all work out... It always does.

Lord send a legion of angles to minister and your Spirit to provide peace and understanding. Remember nothing can separate you from the love of God that is in Christ. Persevere and know in Him there is eternal Hope.
