What started out as a minor ankle fracture led to hospitalization since Monday with fluid build up in the lungs for my 94-year-old mother Louise. She's having trouble coughing it up and getting the body to remove it due to Congestive Heart Failure. The X-Rays and CTs scans done also showed the breast cancer she was diagnosed with in 2020 has spread to her ribs and lung.
We fell into watching Clemson football and basketball on TV together when I was a student ever since the 1990 season. The only football game she ever missed was the 2015 National Championship Game loss due to a broken hip the day before the game.

My grandmother had similar, and recall how much she said coughing hurt her ribs, and thinking how tough that has to feel. Broke my own rub later down the road, and can't imagine how that felt.

Prayers for your wonderful Mom. Seems she has a lot to overcome. It is a genuine blessing if she does not recover to live 94 years. Very few on earth get that long. I use to listen on the radio with my grandfather as few games were on tv those days. My heart goes out to as I have lost both my parents. Those moms are extra special and seems you enjoy a great relationship with her. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Here is an update on my mother. The doctor at the hospital said they can't give her enough Lasix to get rid of the fluid in her lung without causing kidney failure so they're talking about hospice care when she gets to go home in a few days.
She's feeling good with no pain, and her chest congestion sounds much better than it has in over a week, but the doctor talks like she probably won't make it to 2025.
Thanks to all who have offered prayers and are thinking about her. Maybe she'll still turn this around.

My mother was able to go home from the hospital today. The doctor said the fluid in her lung seemed better, so I'm thinking it might have taken a few days for the Lasix to start clearing it out.
Thanks to all who offered prayers. She still has a ton of health challenges, but at least she's at home.
