You've spent a while here but in case you don't know- do opposite of anything people here suggest. :)

My suggestion is for him to have wild, passionate

sex with his wife.

We're friends. You laugh, I laugh. You cry, I cry. You jump off a bridge, I get in my boat and save your retarded a$$.

Well several years ago here's what Clemson was looking for

Aug 1, 2013, 7:12 PM

along with SAT scores and class rank:

1. Your high school extracurricular activities, especially things outside of school.
2. What extracurriculars do you plan on participating in at Clemson?
3. Tell them you're a diehard fan and that this is where you want to go hands down. I've heard from multiple sources that if it's down to a couple applicants this helps.

There's something in these hills.

I got my acceptance letter in February

Aug 1, 2013, 7:15 PM

I stayed busy in the fall. I went to all the football games (both high school and Clemson). Staying busy made the wait easier but after Christmas the wait was excruciating. My advice for your daughter would be to stay busy, get involved in high school, and have faith that it's coming. The wait made the acceptance letter so much sweeter though. Also look up scholarships in the fall, I waited until February and finding money was difficult.

Best of luck to both of you, hope she makes it to Tigertown next fall.
Go Tigers!

My advice is to pray. It always helps and never hurts.***

I'm sure she indicated you were an alum, if there's more

Aug 1, 2013, 7:47 PM

alums in your family, I'd mention that too. If it comes to the Bridge program, that seems to be an unspoken way to get legacy kids in if necessary. My daughter did that and it worked out great. Good Luck.

Thanks

I think she has the grades, and I am alum, but we are out of state so I don't know the impact of that.

Ouch. Out of State tuition is painful. I have two there now.***

Daughter was out of state also.

Aug 1, 2013, 9:30 PM [ in reply to Thanks ]

Bridge program said she would have been admitted as a regular student in-state, but out of state is more competitive because it's capped at a percentage of in-state. She had partial scholly offers for schools here in VA. Good Luck. Enjoy writing them big checks, it's worth it.

You are a true Tiger......says a lot for Clemson and how much we love it.

I believe in proactivity...Thus, when my nephew applied,

Aug 1, 2013, 8:41 PM

I wrote a letter indicating the legacy, his Dad's strong support of Clemson, and his high school activities. I don't know if it helped, but he was accepted shortly thereafter. Accordingly, I reasoned the letter didn't hurt.

What is her class rank and how many in her graduating class?

Aug 1, 2013, 8:41 PM

And how good is her HS? What is her SAT?

Those are the major factors. Unless she is on the bubble nothing else matters.

My son and I met with a Clemson admission's officer

Aug 1, 2013, 9:02 PM

in September, 2010 to see where he stood on getting accepted into Clemson. He was borderline SAT and better with his ACT score and a legacy (both his mom and I are alums, along with aunts, uncles, cousins and grandfather). He said 75% of that year's incoming class had a 4.0 gpa or higher and that the legacy/fan didn't mean anything. I think that's crazy. My son got in the Bridge and transferred over last year. The Bridge to Clemson is working out fine.

My suggestion is that if she is close with the ACT (26) / SAT (1200), have your daughter take it until she gets over those scores. Good luck.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

as I said above, I think the Bridge Program is to help

Aug 1, 2013, 9:33 PM

legacy kids, but it's not said out loud. Most of her fellow Bridge kids were Legacy, and I've seen it mentioned on here a lot.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree with this.

Aug 2, 2013, 4:39 AM

That being said, the students that do successfully "bridge" to Clemson have a higher graduation rate than the regular admissions do.

I hope that it is for FALL 2014 - Gotta be too late for '13

Aug 1, 2013, 9:10 PM

I had a student sending his app in back in February & others were getting accept/reject letters. Didn't get in, but was recommended the Bridge Program at Tri-County Tech & re-apply for January 2014.
