What a gutsy performance!
Glad to see some big threes go down, especially for PJ.
Also thankful we were able to overcome some horrible calls by the officials. To their credit, they did actually call some fouls on UNC down the stretch, which I didn’t expect.
Now let’s keep this momentum going! Go Tigers!

I was really surprised by the officiating tonight. We weren't playing two teams at once for a change.
PJ Hall was everything tonight but a big thing of note is... We are undefeated this season when Girard gets to 20 points.
Jack Clark was just 1 for 6 from the field tonight and many will overlook him but I thought he was huge for us tonight. Plays with poise, great rebounder, solid ball handler, versatile defender and as much as I love Chaucey Wiggins the offense looked more fluid with him out there. He's another 5th year guy that when he's on the court gives us so much experience. He's going to improve as he continues to get in game shape and in rhythm. Glad he's back.
It was an amazing night to be a Clemson BB fan. We don't get too many of these and really helps with the sting of close losses they've endured this season.

Should have beaten Duke and Gtech too. Coukd have beaten UVA. This would have been considered one of the best seasons ever. Goes to show how talented this team is. It really comes down to this team making 3s. This is well balanced team if they can hit 3s. Great win.

True.
Making 3's is obviously good for the score board, but it also opens up play down low as teams actually have to guard the perimeter tight.
When pj is making 3's, it makes him one of the toughest matchups in the acc to guard.

I don't think PJ made any 3's in the second half, but his and Girard's 3's in the 1st half is what got us that big lead.

Still can be one of the best seasons ever. MBB is the only sport where you can have a decent season but get hot in March for 4 games and make it to the Final 4. It won't matter if we're a 3-seed or a 9-seed, all we're going to talk about is how far we make it in the Dance

I'm admittedly am not very knowledgeable about basketball, so forgive me if this question is ignorant...but if we can't make 3's, is there not a different type of game-plan/style we could switch to in-game where we try other means of scoring (like driving to the net)?

football game on my feet, jumping, yelling, swearing, wanting someone to lay out on the court that elbowing dude, Bacot...whatever they call him...repeatedly hollering, "Pour it on boys! Keep up the fire!"
Admittedly, not a basketball guru nor much of an aficienado, but I knew the fellows wanted that win and were fighting against the odds, and I wanted it for them and Clemson.
Dammmmmmm, I was proud of their efforts. And yes, to me, too, it was one of our best!

Well deserved win. Good to see them react the right way and not let tough losses define the season. Hopefully, this momentum carries over the rest of the season and into the playoffs.

I've watched more basketball games this year than the previous 5 seasons combined.
I used to watch a lot in the mid 2000s and early 2010s. I can only compare the team today vs the teams we had back then. It does seem like we are deeper and more talented than those teams. We are built like a team that can make a decent run in the tourney.
We could easily be 19-3 if we had a few more bounces/calls go our way. Hopefully this UNC gives us the confidence that we need to go on a little run here to close out the regular season. This team is far too good to miss out on the tourney, IMO.

It's amazing how razor thin the margin for error is in basketball.

For example, PJ Hall shot around 40% from three in November and December. We were 11-1.
In January and February, prior to last night's game, PJ shot about 20% from three. We were 3-6.
If he had even made 25% of his threes since the new year, which is still not great and way below his average, we would've certainly beaten Georgia Tech, Duke, and Virginia.
Instead of being 15-7 (5-6), we would be 18-4 (8-3).
Instead of being 8th in the ACC, we would be 3rd.
It's crazy to think about. I'm optimistic that PJ has found his shot again and we can go on a nice run to finish the season.

But isn't it Brad's fault that PJ had a shooting slump against the top tier ACC teams?

It’s not all PJ. The good or the bad. Gotta put Girard in this conversation too. He has been in a slump too. And unfortunately it has been at the same time that PJ has not shot the 3 as well so it has been a double whammy. I think it’s more important that Girard may have found his shot because he should be shooting and making more 3s per game than PJ. If Girard had been hitting his shots I think we would have won at least 2 and probably 3 games that we lost in this recent stretch.

If only there was something else PJ could have done instead of jacking up a stream of 3-point bricks?
We all know he CAN make them, and no one begrudges him taking a wide open 3, even if he misses it.
But if you keep missing them, and the other team keeps snaring all the rebounds and converting them into points at the other end, maybe--just maybe--someone in authority might think about saying, hey PJ, let's work a bit closer to the rim, okay?
Nevertheless, this was a great victory and kudos to all the players and Coach Brownell. It was great seeing them play up to the potential we all thought maybe they had and execute a good gameplan. It does raise the question: where has this team been for the last month or so?

It was a great win.
It's one win though.
Shyatt beat #1 UNC at Clemson one season we finished well under .500 for the year.

I agree. The only thing

is that with the inconsistency of Brad's program, Quad 3 or 4 losses could be on the horizon as well. The horse is not in the barn yet.

At this point, I think there are no more Quad 4 games left, barring some sort of catastrophic meltdown. Notre Dame game is the most likely candidate for that. They're currently at NET 167, and the game at ND would not be a Quad 4 game unless they fell to NET 241. Ga Tech is the next lowest NET left for us, at 134.
With today's NET standings, a loss at Ga Tech would be Quad 2 loss, but a loss at ND would be a Quad 3 loss. Out loss to Ga Tech at home remains our only Quad 3 loss and we have no Quad 4 losses.
Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75. Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135. Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240. Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353.

It was a great win. I am more concerned with Girard’s 3 point shooting than with PJ’s. If Joe shoots the 3 well it opens up a lot of opportunities for other players. Really hope this gets him out of the slump he has been in. PJ can get points in the paint if his 3s aren’t falling. The 3 point shot is pretty much what Girard has to offer offensively. He should be taking, and making, a lot more 3s per game than PJ.

87-82 OT win over #1 Duke and Giminski, Banks, Dennard, Taylor & Bender.
Clemson had Larry Nance, Moose Cambell, Billy Williams, Bobby Conrad & Horace Wyatt AND Marvin Key.
Largest crowd ever in LJ, IIRC.

Don't get too excited. My daughter is at Auburn. They would literally run us off the court with the depth they have. There big guys would take ours too the woodshed. We are not athletic enough to hang with many teams.
Saw NC play at G Tech last week. They have two guys like we do. Five guys play most of the time with two more getting just over ten minutes. Much like us. Its all about the matchup.
