Would Florida State be ranked over Texas? Would a resume matchup between Texas and FSU end up in Florida State's favor or Texas?

Both are confrence champions.

One is 13-0 and the other is 12-1

FSU's biggest regular season win is probably LSU. Texas would be Bama.

FSU beat a higher ranked team in the championship game.

Not sure who had the more difficult schedule.

But I just can't see Texas being ranked over FSU given that one loss.

the committee had a 'first ever' decision whichever way they went.

Pick 'Bama and it's the first time they left out a 13-0 power 5 champ.
Pick FSU and it's the first time they left out the SEC.

Everyone can hem and haw about all this, that and the other but I think deep down they felt doing the former was more defensible than the latter.

...Georgia and FSU then round out the CFP as undefeateds, Texas and Bama sit at home with 1 and 2 losses.

Either way, they were NOT going to set up an SEC-less CFP. It was just not going to happen either way. Rather take their licks from ACC/FSU than their daddy, SEC.
