Any guitarists in here?

Just wanted to show off my new Squier 40th Anniversary Strat

Now I just need to figure out what the hell I am doing? Been on Acoustic for a year, this is more different than I anticipated.

Also, if anyone knows why or how to correct a sideways image let me know.

I have a Takamine and a Martin that I used to play way more often.

I'll pick them up every once in a while and just play around on them but nothing too serious. Sadly, I've forgotten how to play so many of the songs I used to know like the back of my hand.

Still have the Alvarez I learned on, too. The action on those strings ...whoo-boy, better have your callouses built up on that one or else you'll pay for it. lol

Nice, my acoustic is a Martin

not that you asked but I started lessons last year to get out of the house more since I WFH. it's been really nice but I wish I had picked it up a lot sooner.

Not any good at guitar, but good enough to make some decent noise.

Just keep at it. It's a lot like working out...

...half the battle is just showing up to the gym, or in this case, just picking the thing up. You'll hit plateaus along the way and feel like you're not making progress, then all of a sudden, something new will click and you'll hit a new level. Good luck!

Rotating a photo is easy done with a phone app or puter app. I use paint on my laptop but the Win 11 photo viewer has that feature too.

I won't call myself a guitar picker. I don't remember the last pick I owned, I'm a mother plucker and use all four fingers and my thumb, when it isn't stuck up my rump.

I like the action on most Fender electrics but I'm not a fan of bolt on necks. Prob the only fender I'd want is an old one which Fender licensed Japan to make. Those little yellow fellers made one model which has a few less pick guard screws. I fooled around with one back in the day but probably wouldn't play it cause I'm a coostical type guy.

The only electric I ever owned was a SG custom delux and I traded it for a van. Now I'm stuck on a 2002 Martin 00028 ec. It's like playing a telephone pole with guide wire for strings. I use the D'idarrio light weight and tune the E down to D and use a capo. It's great since I filed the bridge bone down a little.

I'm not really a guitarist. I might play for 15 mins/mo now but back when, I spent 4-6hrs/da. I've forgotten more than I remember and I don't remember loving any electric so my opinion is heavily biased.

Love the green in that squier!

The only advice I would have going from acoustic to electric is less is more… and the neck is thinner so you can wrap your thumb around easier. Have fun. Good luck!

Good choice, those are solid guitars.

Especially for a first electric, the vintage edition is even cooler, but it's probably not worth the extra $150 unless you can't live without that look, LOL. Make sure you set aside some time every day to pick it up, even if it's 30 minutes. That consistency will make a huge difference in as little as a year.

I could've probably sprung for a slightly nicer option, but this is upgraded over their basic and affinity lines. Also - the old adage you want to love the look of your guitar so you pick it up more.

Got an amp that you can play 8 bars and AI will create a backing track for you at whatever tempo you want, which is pretty cool.

There's NOTHING wrong with look of that one!

I'm actually a pretty big fan of the seafoam and surf green colors on instruments. Those are vintage colors that have made a great comeback here lately, and not just with Fender.
