Program is at a crossroad

Last night to me felt like this program was at a crossroad. If we win and win convincingly it sets the fan base and media narrative in a direction of ease and a mindset of we are back on track. Last night instead made me feel we are behind and not sure we can get back to what we were 6-10 years ago. we no longer have the best athletes, heck not sure we have the best athletes in the state right now. When is the last time someone could say that? . Look at the recruiting classes and all the decommits. College football has changed for the worse but if you want to compete in todays game you have to adapt or die. This program is on the edge of dying unless something changes I’m afraid. Hate to sound like that but just the way I feel . Thoughts?

I think Dabo said it best a few years ago, "when college football becomes professionals, I'm done!", or something to that effect. I love the guy, he's been the best thing that ever happened to Clemson Football since Danny Ford, and maybe forever, but something is going to have to be corrected, but as I've said many times before, "I don't think the Portal is the answer!"

Only if we lose a bunch of transfers in December.

If that happens, either we are screwed or Dabo is, or both.

Yep. Took a left a Mediocreville years ago now.***

The crossroads was a few years ago.

We took the wrong road haha

We keep passing exits to get off and correct yet blow right by em.

Look, there is no program that wins it's conference and makes the Playoff every year. We had an incredible run but means absolutely nothing today. If you had Indiana at 9-0 today, go buy some lottery tickets. Things change and if you expect to have things stay the way "they used to be", you are bound to fail. Louisville did not play well enough to win as easily as they did, but they sure as heck outplayed on the lines of scrimmage and that is where games are won or lost.

Dabo needs to swallow his pride and get some of these talented portal players.

He can’t afford them…. Someone just said we raised 3.5 Million for NIL for football and basketball. You got players making that much money on rosters.

If Clemson had an unlimited amount of NIL money, Dabo would still have to tamper and cheat to get the portal players that can contribute. He is not going to cheat. Clemson is going to have to pay incoming HS freshmen their going rate to stay competitive.

How do the upcoming payment rule changes impact IPTAY money? Can money from IPTAY be used to pay players? Can IPTAY and the 110 Society be combined into one organization?

And I ain't upset we aren't in championship contention.

I'm upset we show up to play ball like a deer in the head lights and play with a softness and hesitation that's flat out inexcusable and not recognizable wrt teams from the past

No pride, no toughness, no swagger, not disciplined football. That's on the HC

When was the last time we could say we didn’t have the best athletes in the state? How about when we lost 5 in a row? And who was the coach then and the coach who dug us out of that? Dabo.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

When was that?

Before the portal/NIL era.

How is Dabo adapting to the new reality?

He isn't.

I agree with you as well. However, I feel that crossroads was a year or 2 ago when it was proven that Dabo can’t replace coaches and maintain a quality product on the field the same way Saban did.
I’m sorry to sound negative but I strongly believe we are on the backside of the Dabo era at Clemson.
It just doesn’t seem like we have the same fire and sense of urgency as in years past.
I hope I’m wrong, but we have fallen off, obviously.
Go Tigers!

Dabo has lost his mojo. He use to be positive and up beat w a lot of energy. Now he’s bitter and crotchety and gets pissed when asked any tough questions. The game he loves has passed him by.

only hope going forward is either get into one of the Power 2 Conferences, find a booster who is loaded beyond belief, or both. The sport has devolved into a player spending war.
