Maryland destroys WVU. The next week, WVU beats OkSt. and OkSt (3-1) is ranked ahead of Maryland(4-0). SCar(3-1) best win is at UCF ranked ahead of undefeated Miami who beat a mightly still-ranked Florida team.

Do you think that UGA, LSU, A&M and SCar should drop out?

I think those 4 have earned the right to be ranked as 1 loss teams.
UF is overrated and has been since game 1 of last year. Ole Miss never deserved to be ranked anyway.

UGa and USC should've dropped more

UF, though, should not be in the top 25.
LSU's a good team, but I'm not convinced that they'll beat A&M, Alabama, or one of South Carolina or Ole Miss. Their defense is not very good and their best win is over a weak TCU team.
Here's my problem, though. Even though I think UGa and USC are top- 25 caliber teams, let's imagine something. Let's say UGa lost to LSU, making them 2-2. Do you think they would've fallen out of the top 25, or would they be sitting at around 15- 20 (maybe higher) with a .500 record?
If USC had lost to Central Florida, would they have dropped out of the top 25? I doubt it. But they would've been 2-2, and still been ranked ahead of some 4-0 teams from AQ conferences.
None of that happened, but it came pretty close to happening. If it had, maybe we'd have been asking if the SEC isn't getting way too much deference, and about the effect of overrating their teams on the rankings of other teams in their conference.

It's only odd if you think UMD would beat OSU, or

that Miami would beat the Coots.
On a neutral field, vegas would have OSU favored over UMD by about 14 and the coots favored over Miami by at least a touchdown, imo.
