Hunter Johnson may end up being a fine QB, but I'm not even certain he beats out Chase Brice (I personally think Brice is better and I think Chase does too or he wouldn't have committed after Johnson). I don't think #4 should ever be worn by a back up after what Fuller and Watson have done with the number (Watson should have never been a backup as a Frosh either, but that's another discussion).
After Watson leaves, I'd like to see a QB earn the right to wear #4 from now on. You show me during the course of the previous season that you've got the goods to uphold the standard of that number, then you can wear it the following season with Fuller and Watson patches.

guessed you missed it that johnson is the top rated qb in his class and rated higher than watson was. dont mean a thing till he comes here and does it but come on.

that's as a Junior. I've seem film from both Johnson and Brice. Personally, I think Brice has a livelier arm, is more accurate and has more upside (my opinion of course). Could end up being a Watson/ SWAG situation (without somebody getting kicked off the team). One guys wins the job and the other transfers to an SEC school and has plenty of success as well.

I would imagine that #4 will not be pulled back out for a very long time for a VERY special circumstance.

#4 is 2x Retired after DW4 gets Heisman. Bout pro styles....

Both of these guys are actually pretty good athletes and run very similar offensive systems in HS. Even if these guys can't run like DW4 (and definitely not like KB or ZC), that means we get more touches to our RBs.... Choice, Feaster and Richardson are going to be fed the rock to punish people. Add in White the following year and I'd never want to run the QB again.

Behind the number is the real meaning. Fuller earned the number and up to him to let others wear it. Watson may well be the best ever to date at Clemson but he chose Fuller's to follow.
For us allI I hope we have a better QB coming to continue this conversation.
