I think they are probably better than Texas or Penn State. Also we’ve been there done that in recent years, not exactly a house of good memories for us. Plus we will play them there again in coming years.
Also don’t want to have to hear the Tim Bourret ND stuff for weeks again
Going to either Texas or Penn State would be a great unique opportunity.
This is all I ask for

ND looks like the best case scenario imo. Clemson can block them and they have no wrs.
Ohio St and Texas look like the worst matchups in the trenches and have explosive wrs.

Our 3rd team corners could shut down Collins.

Dude, ND has some pretty good receivers, they just spread the ball around so there's not that one elite receiver.
But you obviously haven't watched us this year. Notre Dame is pretty much the nightmare scenario for us.
Their strength on offense is our biggest weakness. We have the #98th rushing defense. We're allowing 5 yards a carry, from pretty mediocre rushing teams in general. Notre Dame has the #1 rushing attack in the power 5. They have a very big, powerful offensive line with good lateral movement and are strong in fundamentals (better than either Ohio State or Texas). They have two great running backs who have combined for 1,600 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns, averaging 7.2 yards per carry. On top of that, Riley Leonard has been the best scrambling QB this year on a non-option offense. He has 750 yards and 14 touchdowns. We're terrible against running QBs. And don't forget, he's pulverized us in the past on a MUCH worse team so he has first-hand knowledge of Goodwin (and he's probably the smartest QB in college football).
And defensively, our biggest strength is hard countered by theirs. I would say we have a good passing offense when we're clicking (though not elite). Notre Dame's passing defense is #3 in the country. To be fair, Ohio State and Texas are right there with them, but the fact that Notre Dame can stop our passing attack, lean on their running backs, and force Mafah to try to keep up, is pretty concerning, especially based on the last few weeks.
I don't think we can beat any of the potential opponents for us in the first round, but potentially, here is what I think.
Notre Dame: Next to no chance.
Ohio State: This could turn into a blood bath because they are just so incredibly talented everywhere. But this is also a game where an upset is possible.
Texas: The most vulnerable team. I think they're overrated. They're decent everywhere, but have shown real vulnerabilities.

If Tweedly Dee and Tweedly Dum (you decide who’s who) can call 4 qtrs of football, we can compete with anyone. It won’t be easy, but they lost to NIU. We probably can hang with NIU most days.
And Notre Dame fans think god created football for them. People who dislike Dabo’s takes should REALLY want Clemson to beat the snot outta them.

Hard to believe how many people on here opposed the expanded playoff. This is great imo.

Would much rather play ND than Texas. The Longhorns would be a really bad match up for us. They just played head to head w Uga…the team that ate our lunch.

Disagree. Think we’d handle Notre Dame pretty well. Also probably the least hostile environment of the options we have. They haven’t played a good passing offense until usc and they scored on Notre dame.
