PLAYOFF

May 12, 2012, 11:16 AM

Alabama even playing much less being the national champion last year is what is wrong with college football. lsu beat alabama on the their home turf. lsu still had to beat a top5 arkansas team and a top10 georgia team to get to the national championship game. alabama just had to beat an average auburn team. for this thing to work and not be biased to the SEC OR BIG12s advantage, the teams in the final 4 should have to be a conference champion. the reason a team like BOISE ST is willing to travel all the way accross the country is because of this unfair playing field, being considered inferior each and every year. i am not saying that playing n the SEC is the same as plying in the WAC because we all know it is not, but BEING CONFERENCE CHAMPION OF THE WAC SHOULD COUNT JUST AS MUCH AS THE SEC for things to be fair. USE an RPI or a NEW BCS formula to determine the top 4 conference champions, then let the bowls pick the remaining teams as they see fit. I wont argue that ALABAMA was the best team in the country last year, but when they lost ON THEIR HOME FIELD, they shouldve been eliminated in the national championship race. THINK OF IT THIS WAY: ALABAMA WAS NOT EVEN THEIR OWN DIVISION OR CONFERENCE CHAMPION, BUT WERE NATIONAL CHMPION! THAT IS CRAZY! the coaches poll needs to be eliminated. the AP at least covers ALL the teams and is not affected by biased voting. in my scenario i believe clemson still wouldve went to the orange bowl last year. LSU wouldve played OREGON IN 1game and OKLAHOMA ST wouldve played WISCONSIN. the likely result souldve been THE RIGHTFULL MATCHUP OF LSU AND OKLAHOMA ST. ENOUGH SAID

what if Clemson beats Auburn in Sept...

...and Auburn goes on to win the SEC and Clemson wins the ACC, and they meet up in the BCS Championship and Auburn wins the NC? it would make the game in Sept. meaningless too. there is no perfect solution. the season should matter, but everyone wants the best team to win, which was clearly Alabama last year. if OK State and Stanford were allowed to play in a "final 4" of sorts, it would have made the national champion a little more definitive. but if #15 Wisconsin was part of the equation instead of #2 Alabama, it would have been a joke.

UNC and Duke both have basketball national championship banners hanging in their rafters, for which they weren't the ACC champion the same season.

"he AP at least covers ALL the teams and is not affected by biased voting."

Every vote cast by a human is bias.
