Radakovich Interview

Jan 18, 2013, 4:11 PM

Would Clemson really build a new basketball arena? Sure hope not. Would be a huge waste of money.

If you want an elite level team

Jan 18, 2013, 4:15 PM

Which a lot of fans do(even those of us that mainly care about football) then you need an elite level arena. And Littlejohn, even with millions in renovations, will never be an elite arena. You can't polish a turd.

Littlejohn isn't Cameron indoor, we can't keep it based on history and expect to get 5*s

We barely half fill LJ for ACC games. Our team isn't

Jan 18, 2013, 5:01 PM

terrible. I just don't think Clemson people care about basketball for some reason.

It's fast paced, only 2 hrs max, 72 degree weather... Doesn't make sense to me that there aren't 10,000 people in the upstate who would go to support Clemson.

We can't even find 2000 students out of our 15000 to fill up the student section.

spend the money. I hope he does so, wisely.

Personally, I'd be fine with putting money toward football

and basketball. Then just see what's left for the other sports. I know we've got a lot of baseball fans and I want us to be successful in all 3. Just saying if I had to make a priority, I'd choose basketball.

I personally think it's time to retire LJ

Jan 18, 2013, 4:16 PM

I think another practice facility would be a total waste. Spend the money and either do a "good" complete renovoation of LJ or blow up and rebuild new.

Louisville's basketball program netted more $ than ACC FB

It can happen at Clemson. I can remember fans sitting in the aisles at LJ with the Tigers being ranked in the top 10.

Build sky boxes for the students with keggers

Jan 18, 2013, 5:26 PM

just kidding -- kind of.

But we need to do something to attract fans AND players. It needs to be unique and special. Needs to be worth the drive from Greenville area.

This phrase is overused, but I do think we need to "think outside the box" and do something special to put Clemson basketball on the map and put fans and players in the area.

players

Jan 18, 2013, 5:36 PM

how about field a team that isnt just KJ Mcdaniels, an above average player in rod hall, 2 bum ### scrub seniors, and so many young guys? in other words a team worth skipping out on studing to watch

Re: players

Jan 18, 2013, 5:44 PM

Well here is the problem Tommytiger66. Players don't want to come play in the absolute s*** stain that is Littlejohn. No matter how good of a coach you are that is all they care about. You build the facility and take your program seriously and players will come. With those players you will win. With the wins bandwagon fans like yourself will come out.

:)
