Pitchfork Ben has taught me a hard learned lesson

Jun 22, 2012, 11:22 AM

In our dominance of The SCar during my lifetime I had honestly begun to feel sorry for them. I had slapped a few on the back and held my tongue when I had the chance at a very cutting remark. I didn't take every opportunity to remind them of their insignificance and only occasionally reminded them that THE University of South Carolina and flagship University of South Carolina is Clemson University. I even encouraged some by saying phrases like "you can't win em all" and " maybe next year". I allowed my good hearted nature as a Clemson man to gradually creep into how I dealt with The SCar. But Ben knows better as he always does. Some may doubt the the Chicken Curse. But I have no doubts. Its because of people like me who had forgotten who we are really dealing with. No they are not a threat athletically and The SCar is certainly not a threat academically. They are simply the scum of the earth. I repent and when Ben sees fit to relent and that the true believers in the Greatness of Clemson have risen up there will be an outpouring of the Chicken Curse like no generation before us has ever seen and none will ever see again. It is coming and it is coming quickly. Teach your children well. Believe and do not doubt.

Pitchfork Ben notwithstanding, they do

appear to be "a threat athletically."

I don't see them backing up any time soon. They also have a good recruiting class coming in and some very good coaches. So if you want to overlook them that is fine,I just hope our coaches take a different approach.

What I am talking about is the exact opposite of overlooking

them.

I think Ben died in Omaha in 2010. Maybe time to let that

one go.

Fans like you are the problem.

Jun 22, 2012, 11:46 AM

You have literally turned into an ostrich if you do not think they are a threat. THAT'S the problem. We need to recognize the threat and do something about it. By giving more money, move to another conference,... Whatever it takes. An enormous shift in power has taken place and we are on the wrong side of it. Not only are they dominant over us in every single #### sport, they have become relevant nationally in baseball and football. Not to mention the $$ they bring in from the SEC is blowing us out of the water, and if we stay in the ACC, it will truly get out of hand as we will fall further and further behind. If the right steps are not taken, we will continue to be on the wrong side for many, many years to come. And the first step is recognizing that they are a threat.

Everything you said fits in this statement

Jun 22, 2012, 12:00 PM

"the true believers in the Greatness of Clemson have risen up"

A 2 sentence Paraphase of the above since you seem to have misunderstood.

I will never again take The SCar for granted. Nor will I hesitate to rub in every victory from here on out.

We've got some work ahead of us but we will dominate once again.

I have to disagree with you, they are not nationally

Jun 22, 2012, 12:13 PM [ in reply to Fans like you are the problem. ]

relevent---they are not even regionally relevent. They think that because they have done something that they have NEVER done in their lifetime (beating their rivals) that they have really accomplished something great. That is a huge compliment to us! They have still done NOTHING of signifigance and simply never will. Let them enjoy their THREE years and we'll enjoy our past 100 and the next 100!

Except for their baseball team

Jun 22, 2012, 1:49 PM

Which is certainly a national "power" at this time.

Re: Agree w CUBuck.......have to recognize threat and yes

they are relevant. No question about it in baseball as they just set a NCAA win streak that many think may never be broken. In addition, they could be on their way to a 3 peat. Football finished in the top 10 final poll last year so it is not just beating us that has them crowing. Finishing top 10 and likely being top 10 to start 2012 season seems a lot more relevant than I would like for them to be!

Is this another one of those threads where the OP seems to think the rivarly and winning cycle is some form of voodoo and "natural cycle" put in place by the football gods?

Some of you spin out of reality and seem to forget that the games will have to be played and things have been changing...you comment as though "oh this will pass, things will go back to NORMAL."

That is crazy talk and a losers mentality.

A downturn under Hatfield/West/Bowden eras. That *seems* to have changed direction for the better lately.
