I just filled out a questionnaire to determine my eligibility to serve

on a federal jury in Greenville after getting a letter this morning that said I had been selected randomly for possible duty. Of course, I won't have to serve as I am over 70, but my question is : How many of you would want to serve on such a jury if you could avoid it? Especially when you have no idea what the case might be or how long the trial might take.

Not sarcastic.

But since trials and "justice" are purely political now, jury nullification is a sacred duty.

Like I'm going to believe anything the DOJ or FBI (or any federal agency) says at this point? Sure. Whatever the government is charging someone with, not guilty. Period.

My daughter got one too. And she’s been out of the state for 3 years. Called and said they don’t clear the roster. No wonder this country has voting issues.

I have been called in for jury duty twice in Greer.

1. When going through the jury selection, I was rejected for two reasons: first, I attended church with one of the lawyers; and second, he told me later on that I was passed over because I was an engineer.

2. I was chosen to be a juror in another trial and appointed foreman ... because I was an engineer.😂 The case went to trial but was settled after a couple of hours while the jury sat in conference room. We were called in to the courtroom and dismissed from duty.

I have been called to federal court in Greenville once and filled out the paperwork. But, I wasn't selected ... probably because I am an engineer.

I was on one similar child custody case once that brought out details like that before I realized that I should have been excused because I knew the girl involved. (whose name wasn't revealed before I was selected for the jury).

I said I had a Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Neither lawyer wants someone on the jury that can think.

The one jury I actually sat on (criminal drug case) they didn't have any more jurors available in the pool.

I am anti-violent criminal and believe in death and max penalties for murderers, rapists and violent criminals who are not acting to protect themselves and others. Not likely to be selected for criminal trials. But willing to support if selected for civil business/financial/injury cases.

My reasoning ... most crimes are committed by repeat offenders ... sometimes 2, 3, 10, 20 times.

90 miles away. The trial was expected to last around 8 days - it went 5 weeks. I commuted the first week, but got motel rooms the rest of the trial. Was reimbursed $110 a day for meals and lodging; didn't spend near that much. I put a $1000 in my savings account from that trip, plus kept my regular salary from my job. Played golf a couple days when we were dismissed early.

Some of the most mind-numbing, boring testimony from all parties involved. And, the judge was the ex-husband of my 10th grade English teacher from 1977.

I have served on juries in Memphis, a second degree murder case and an armed robbery case. We found both guilty after a few hours of deliberation. The hang up on the armed robbery case was one juror who didn't believe the guy had a gun, because if he had a gun he would have shot the guy. Interesting take on things on her part.

I have sat in court waiting to testify more than most. It is hours of boredom, and most times they re-schedule as lawyers try to wear down the ability of witnesses to show. Judges are lawyers and depend on the other lawyers (golf buddies) to fund their next election.

I have been in jury pools, always dismissed from criminal cases, but did get in on a couple civil cases.
The deal is to quickly assert yourself as the leader so you can get deliberation over quickly.

Received the same questioner for Columbia, S. C. I have mixed emotions, due to the two tiered justice system in our country. I am exempt due to my age also; however if called I will serve. Who knows one vote on a jury might keep someone from being shafted by our current Federal Judiciary system.
