Are you OK with not trading up to get a quality LT which is what we really need? Management said no trades today or tomorrow either, so who we get is pretty much depends on who is available when were on the clock.

The bust rate is pretty much the same on Tackles in the first as it is in later rounds. They said it would have costed too much to move up. The guy the wanted got taken the pick before.

Though picking ST In the 1st rd is a little of a headscratcher (possible replacement for TD down the road)....
Yeah.. agreed could have gotten a LT....

The DC was apparently the biggest advocate for this kid. They expect him to get on the field as a SAM and be a versatile piece of the defense. If rather them get someone they think can start than a tackle they don't like just because it is a need.

I mean the one position I would think we're pretty solid at with pro bowlers? Maybe some linemen on either side would be nice

the Panthers suck at drafting. Always have. Prime example:

they drafted Weinke.

Panthers gave up to get him. I know they desperately needed OT's but I like getting another tall wr target with speed.

the bus, though.
Assinine pick. Funchess would have been available much later, and they passed on the Oreg and Wisc OT's.

Panthers cannot draft

I have been a fan of the Panthers since they were formed but they are terrible at the draft. If you are not going to get a LT which they need at least get some type of play maker on the offensive side of the ball. Another WR is desperately needed for Cam to have someone other than Benjamin to throw to. Also, I would have liked to seen them move up and get a Melvin Gordon or Gurley. Instead tough they get a LB which is the last position next to QB that they could possibly need.

out here where I live while watching UW play and he is a beast. Kind of a Dawk playing LB that reminds me of a SS type who plays LB in college. I think it is a case of getting the best FB player instead of a position need, which hurts us as far as I am concerned. We have not had a great OL since the SB run era and I only hope that we will find a couple of beasts in a trade or FA routes in the very near future. J Stew is an injury bug guy every year so I am very concerned along with Cam and his maddening inconsistencies. I am tired of the Panthers winning with defense and offensive sluggishness.

I think they have had the worst draft of anytime by far. Gave up too much for a wr with all kind of questions marks. Then took a lb with there 1st rd a potion they don't need anyone.

The "old panthers" couldn't draft.... but that all changed with the consecutive picks of Cam, Luke, Star, Kelvin, and now Shaq. This guy's athletic ability is undeniable and Thomas Davis is injury prone and aging. This pick may have not been one out of pure necessity, but it is a future move to ensure defensive dominance. The pick-up of Funchess saved the offense for this season in addition with the free-agent pickups of Todman at RB, Boykin at WR and bringing back Ted Ginn will drastically improve the offense this year. I think the panthers' defense will be even better this year and the offense can only get better after last year especially with a healthy Cam Newton returning. Panthers will win the south again.
