overall projection

Aug 2, 2014, 10:55 PM

I believe we neuter the mutts again by 2 tds and finish the year 11-1 honestly...... Only see us losing to, and I truly hate to say this but, FSU...... at FSU is going to be tough. Hope I'm wrong. Opinions??

FSU thinks they'll be able to take us lightly after last year. 17 point underdogs my sports book has us for that game also. I truly think were gonna shock CFB and win in Tallahassee to put us 3-0.

This raises a philosophy question.

Aug 3, 2014, 8:00 AM

Is it okay to predict a Clemson loss before the season starts? I don't think so. Is it possible that Cole Stoudt sets the college football world on fire, our running game is awesome and our D, as expected, is amazing? Absolutely!! In fact I say it will happen. 15-0!!!!! Go Tigers!!!!

THAT is the only way to be if you call yourself a fan! I don't care if your team is Vandy, or Colorado State, or USF. If you don't believe your team can and will win every game, what does that say about your "fanhood?" Fact is, it is not irrational at all to believe this Tiger team will run the table.

Now, I'm not gonna bet the house on it, but I'm going to believe this team will be 15-0. The talent and depth are there. Play our best every game and there is absolutely no reason to think we'll lose a game.

The definition of awesome!

If Winston gets his due - legal and karmic - we beat them!

Aug 3, 2014, 8:00 AM

If he is normal personality, he has to feel guilty? Which will hurt his playing too. Otherwise, he is sociopathic!

If he has a great year this year he's the real deal.

The rape investigation being dropped is troubling.

Aug 3, 2014, 8:36 AM

They said there was not enough evidence, but that is obviously BS. They have a girl who says he raped her and they have his DNA. They have his admission that he had sex with her, but he says it was consensual. This is all the prosecution has in many rape cases. That is why we have JURIES. They are there to hear the evidence, including witness testimony, and decide what is true. The fact that the girl in the Winston case never got that chance because her alleged attacker was a star QB is unforgivable.

I just saw him interviewed on ESPN. He shows no remorse or understanding of what he's done wrong. He calls what he's done kid mistakes. He says all the publicity around him only motivates him and the team because they believe people want to take away from what they've accomplished. Dude believes his own lies. It's all about him. I hope we play a game for the ages and beat these guys! "Go Tigers"!

I don't have any problem with people expressing opinions;

Aug 3, 2014, 8:20 AM

however, as others have said, I've had a long practice of not ceding any game before it's played.

The reason: too many upsets over the years. Few thought we stood a chance against Nebraska in the 82' OB for the N.C. Same thing in the CFA Bowl against LSU, and there were doubters about our chances against OSU in this year's OB. We've received our comeuppance at times, as have virtually all programs.

Thus, I like the phrase: Never say never.

Exactly! "Realism" = self-doubt

Aug 3, 2014, 8:52 AM

"Just being realistic" is the poorest excuse for "I'm skert" yet imagined. Which is why I note that realism is overrated.

I cannot tell you how tired I get of people who cloak insecurity in a self-projected fog of "realism" that, in reality, isn't real at all.

The reality now is we are a solid team facing a tough schedule. The rest is not written yet, unless you go into a game thinking it's a loss.

As always, I don't "see" us losing to anyone ...

Aug 3, 2014, 8:47 AM

...You correctly note that the FSU game will be the toughest of the regular season, and if I gambled on the Tigers to win or lose, I'd follow the money.

But there's nothing Pollyannic about expecting to win every time you step on the field. Put the onus on your opponent. The team that projects losses only becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

15-0 until proven otherwise. There's no other way to approach the season or why bother playing?

Re: overall projection

Aug 3, 2014, 9:20 AM

I believe we can win every game on our schedule, I am loving the reports from practice that there is a quiet confidence and strong work ethic emanating from this team. I am excited to see how we match up against other talented teams. WILL we win them all? That's why we fans get excited because the real fun is in the playing. Whatever happens, I love this team and coaches. They make me proud to be a Clemson fan! Go Tigers!

Re: overall projection

Aug 3, 2014, 9:42 AM

In Dabo's time Clemson has lost only once to a poor team (a 2-10 Md squad) and have had two straight seasons without losing to medium teams. With that preamble I see 8 wins assured. Of the other four I see:

Georgia - 10-point or more victory. Even at Athens, for Clemson is simply a better team.

South Carolina - 10-point or more victory ... mostly an emotional pick due to it being so long, but also last year it was turnovers, not South Carolina, that caused the loss.

Louisville - toss up. Louisville will score plenty and so will Clemson ... I pick about 38-35 for Clemson.

Florida State - 10-point loss.

Re: overall projection

Aug 4, 2014, 11:32 AM

So your prediction is you will beat Georgia by 10+ because we're soft right? Then you say that you will only beat Louisville by 3 points? Now that right there is just lol !! Their defense gave up 50 something points during their spring game! And on top of that they have 3rd and Grantham as their dc, the same dc that Georgia had last year! ! Boi some of yalls rational thoughts are just out there !! LOL
