securing the ball after catch seems to be a common thing for some of our receivers. Bryant and Peak always look like they have trouble putting it away. In some cases it has cost them receptions that I actually believe they made

That's because they need to catch with their hands

more times then not when Bryant or Peake lost the ball it was due to them cradling it to the body and not having a firm enough grip. Nuk, Sammy and even Humphries catch with their hands and immediately put the ball away.

###. nice post. no doubt he will be a star at the nfl level.

you figure he's in the 87 %tile, and only a few people that would rate higher had the drive (dedication needed) to improve their other attributes while playing hs, and college ball (such as strength, speed, route running, blocking,etc.).

When he stopped playing basketball, got in the weight room, and put on 15 to 20 pounds of muscle, he became a different receiver. Hope our other young guys take a lesson.

I'm really high on Hopper, but agree that he does need to concentrate on "small things," including his body. At 170, he will have a hard tine coping with big physical corners who are starting to look like linebackers. Follow Nuk's example and get in the weight room as though it were your second home.

one of his biggest problems, is that hes so small. Teams may try and be real physical with him and I'm wondering how he'll adapt to that (AT THIS STAGE). He does need to get bigger and stronger. With Peake's injury..I think you look to Humphries and Bryant first.

Or Wes Welker...
Sep 12, 2013, 1:53 PM
|
|
..put a talented and quick WR together with a top tier QB like Brady or Manning and anything can happen. Likewise with Hopper and Boyd. The shorter guys just have to be quick and be able to run to the ball since they don't have the height to win every one-on-one with a back.
Darren Sproles may have been shorter than everybody, but he puts up some great numbers.

But, if you look at the pro players to whom you are referring, they may not be that tall, but they are "thick," as in heavily muscled. Not so with Germone, who frankly is thin. All I'm saying is that he needs to get up to around 190. At that point he becomes a force of nature.

My point exactly. They can jam him at the line of scrimmage; What's he going to do against a 210 pound cornerback who is popping him every time he comes off the line of scrimmage?

Bellamy that scored on their first touches? Sammy on a short pass he turned into a long run and Mike with a carry that he bounced outside for 50 or 60 yards?

Not the worst thing to happen..

Yes Peake is a tremendous receiver, but I believe losings others would have hurt is much worse. G-hop and Adam are plenty qualified enough to take on the load. From what we have heard all along so is M. Williams and Green. I don't see this as much of a set back but an opportunity to develope others much faster for the future. Plus "The Chad" has a plan!!

Peake was really coming on, and he is a major loss. However, I think we can compensate, hopefully with tight end play and backs who can catch the ball coming out of tahe backfield. And, we have got to have a consistent running game.
