I agree. I was watching the replay this a.m. The SS behind Wallace was in the game and totally bit on a fake in the backfield and let Furman get a big run. That happens to linebackers at times, but a safety shouldn't come in so far on a fake that he totally lets the guy run scot-free on the edge.

Muse is *still* a liability in coverage

I posted this 2 years ago and got berated for it... but it still stands true today. Muse is continuously out of position and getting picked on in coverage.

You’re right & have been right since your first post on him. He’s pretty good in run support & loves to hit, but his cover skills are terrible. He’s out of position a lot & blows coverage as well (see Syracuse 2017). I think he’d be a decent Will LB on running downs, but just doesn’t seem to have it mentally to play S

instead of a pick, was hilarious... because we were playing Furman. Pretty scary otherwise.

Muse seems to show up late on plays a lot. If he guesses right, then he hits pretty hard. But overall, he appears to be someone that could get exposed. If I were an opposing OC, then I would pick on him when possible. I'm sure CBV is aware of any weaknesses and will work to correct them, so not really worried. I think Muse had a pick-6 last season.

Constantly getting picked on? You picked the one game the defense as a whole didn't play well kind of hard putting that on Muse. How does a team that has such a weakness not have that weakness picked on every play? Are opposing coaches just not as smart as you? Or is it you have no f-ing idea what you are talking about? Do you know how many players didn't do their job on the long run to get to Muse who you said got faked out? I'm going to take an educated guess and say you don't. They had what one long run against a pretty good scheme. I tell you what I thought Furman had a great scheme with a lot of misdirection and for some of you to think they aren't going to get one is friggin asinine. For a team that has won 26 games the past 2 years your perceived weakness may be over dramatized. If it were as big as a problem as some fans think I'd think the actual coaches wouldn't start him there or at the very least take him out during passing downs. Imma go with the coaches on this and say some of you want to pick out the couple plays here and there and never mention the good things he does. Also if you want to be taken seriously give the game, quarter, minute and play of what your talking about and if your really really want to be taken serious it better not be just one play in which any and every player can have a bad play.

The one game I'm talking bout that you picked that the defense didn't play well was Syracuse.

Perhaps a little switcheroo

I trust our coaches know best. They obviously are some of the best in the business, but from an outsider, I wouldn't mind switching Muse and Simmons. Simmons bit on some plays and took gambles at safety last year, but far less than Muse it seemed. And they both are physical freaks. I think I would rather our NB/OLB be picking their moments to gamble than our safety.

I agree! I think Simmons should go back to safety and move muse or shaq smith to SLB. If he continues to develops
