I have gone a handful of times with the most recent on Friday. The experience will not disappoint. The grounds crew did a tremendous job getting the course ready after the destruction in the area from the hurricane.

Unreal & beautiful environment when Azaleas are in bloom..will never hear a more exciting sound than a roar from the crowd at a hole nearby when a Nicklaus or Palmer or Woods (<~my Mothers fav and at 80 she saw him in person and couldn’t believe he was non-White) have double-birdied and taken the lead..
The wimmens in their slacks and the huge array of colors overall in the clothing..the swift crowd movement from one hole to a better one.
Once Saw Chi-Chi Rodriquez come into the edge of the woods to find his ball on Amen Corner and he glaced our way and then yelled out TENNESSEE..
And sitting down on a one legged wood stool was a man with an old fishing hat with lures on it who was carving on a piece of stick..
And he stood up and we could see it was Tennessee Earnie Ford, the singer, and they chatted a minute since play was backed up.
Saw RB Jimmy Brown there with two wimmens..one on each arm.
Always in early days followed Arnie & Jack and others like Player and most golfers back then dressed in bright colored pants and Golf Shirts except him (all Black).
Trying to remember the famous drink sold there.
Oh, as an Institutional Food Broker rep in early-mid 80’s I called on the Club’s Chef and every time I shook my head as I drove down that famous driveway.

I went along time ago late 90's it was great. On top of that I was working to help fix a problem at a fragrance manufacturer in Augusta IFF. I solved a major problem for them and the plant manager said she owed me one, I said get me into the masters just kidding, but it turns out her husband was the Cheif grounds keeper and he gave me a tour of the entire course in a golf cart. Only thing better would to have played it.
It was a month or so before the actual masters and they had all the azaleas on ice to keep them from blooming until they would peak for TV. .

Back in "the day" the locals without a tournament badge could just show up at the gate M-W and buy a practice round ticket. Wednesday was like $20 and included the Par 3 Contest. Those days are long gone.

Leave and they would give you their badge so you could walk in for free. I remember the first time someone wanted $10 for their badge and I was shocked and appalled, THOSE days are definitely gone especially with the new tracking they are implementing.
Got a shirt one time by driving up to the guard gate and BEGGING him to get me one for my wife’s uncle who was desperate to have one. He took my credit card and said, “What size?” Came back 20 minutes later with a polo. Not sure if that works anymore after the nut job crashed his van into the gate.

I did that my freshman year at Clemson on a Tuesday practice round - $10. Parking was just right outside the gates then. Now it’s a pretty good hike to get in from the parking lot. The overall experience is so much better now. They treat you like guests with great amenities.

Live across the Savannah River in North Augusta and live less than 7 miles away from Augusta National. I’ve been about 4-5 times, but never to the actual tournament. Every time it has been a practice round, youth drive, chip & putt, and the women’s amateur tournament. It’s extremely difficult to score tickets. Older family members share they used to go all the time, but things changed after big business got involved just like all other sports industries. If you ever get a chance to go, be ready to spend a while in line in the pro shop (it can be like waiting in line to a Disney World ride to get in). Items from the shop are great quality. If you just want a hat or smaller items , they sell them at different locations throughout the course. Make sure to get a pimento cheese and egg salad sandwich (I don’t usually like egg salad but it hits different). Last but not least, be sure to get plenty of Crowe’s Nest beers served in the green cup. It is the exclusive beer of the Masters and is great! Food and beverage items are extremely reasonable and cheap.

morning. We always wait and hit the main gift shop on the way out, and there's usually no wait at all.
The smaller gift shop at the south gate usually has no wait, but even they had a 20-minute wait at lunchtime. You can't beat the $ 3 ham and cheese on rye sandwiches.

I’ve been 15-20 times. I’ve been to all of Clemson’s National Championship games in the CFP ERA. I’ve been to Final Fours and the national championship for college basketball, I’ve been to USA v USSR hockey match, and there is nothing like the roars on a Sunday rattling through the pines at Augusta National IMO.

As a local who has lived in the area for 35 years outside my years attending and graduating from Clemson, I agree that the course isn’t located in the nicest part of town. It is old, and now it’s located close to the oldest parts of the city. Unlike other sports, you can’t just uproot the golf course and move it. The Augusta Green Jackets relocated to North Augusta, South Carolina to get out of the bad parts of town. If you ever visit, the area again, I would recommend visiting North Augusta and the riverside area that they have developed containing several restaurants hotels, and our minor league baseball team. Clemson baseball recently played a game and beat Georgia Southern there. Columbia county portions of Augusta are nice as well. Stay out of Richmond county if you are visiting the area. You’re not the only one who has ever called that portion of the city “Disgusta”. 😂

Tourney been going on for 100 years, i happen to score tix the one year, 2020 , it’s cancelled/ no fans whatsoever. Missed responding to the email later on to get them the next year , although I think they cut attendance level greatly the next year also so probably still wouldn’t have got in.
Did get online access to the merchandise offered in 2020 and still have the unused badges.
Side note , my great uncle died on the course in the early 1980’s from a massive heart attack after retiring out of the Air Force in his early 50’s. He lived the street right behind the course with his wife who still lives there at 99 yrs old . He was a caddy a couple times a week just to have something to do after retirement. His wife has been asked many times if she or her children would be interested in selling eventually to the course.

I have been lucky enough to have gone to The Masters 15-20 times. Seen most of the players up close. Stood 5 feet from Duval’s second shot in to 7. What a powerful body he had. Saw Olazabal remove a pine cone from beside his ball on 1. He had insanely stable hands.
Walked the course many times. Tried to follow Tiger 1 year but it was impossible.
Think of the most pristine place you have ever been and then add some.

I have. First round Thursday in 2013 when Adam Scott won that year. It was incredible. No phones or photography allowed in so you really get to pay attention and view everything up close. It’s surely it’s like heaven on earth. Everything is pristine. The food and drinks are cheap and tasty, and all of the merch is reasonably priced. It’s the aftermarket where prices are outrageous. Highly recommend it if you can go!

I went with my dad from 1972-1977. I got to to see some great players during that stretch. My mom and dad would go on Thursday when the crowds were not as large, and then we’d go on Sunday for the final round.

I've been twice, but only for practice rounds. We've never made it for an actual round. Even so, it was an amazing experience and my brothers and I were happy we could get my dad, who is a huge golf fan, to Augusta.

I only went once a long time ago when Tiger Woods was winning everything, everywhere, all the time.
I steered clear of his galleries which were 15 people deep throughout the tourney. I'm too short to see over 15 other people.
I followed players like Jesper Parnevik and Fred Couples around all four days and thus enjoyed being able to see the course.
I did bump into -- quite literally -- Mickelson's wife at Amen Corner. She is even prettier than the golf course.
Fred Couples has the purest golf swing I've ever seen, for the record.

Twice, one practice round and one tournament round. It’s awesome environment. The place is so meticulously taken care of it’s almost not real. There is no blade of grass or pine straw out of place. You won’t find concessions any cheaper at a pro sports event. But be ready to spend money in the store. $1500 for me. Bucket list for every golfer. Followed it up with a John Daly autograph at the local hooters.

disappointed. As a kid, I hung out behind 18 and got autographs (it's not possible anymore). I remember running beside a golf cart and getting Palmer, Player, and Nicklaus's signatures (most players just walked to the clubhouse from 18). Back then, the press building was at the bottom of the hill, near the main leaderboard, and they'd take the big names there by cart after they signed their scorecard.
I've been blessed to have attended with my parents, my better half, and all the kids.

Only missed a couple of years due to family issues or illness.
I have been to all 4 majors, Ryder cup, presidents cup, players and many other events. Nothing is even close to being at ANGC and the Masters. It is simply different. The Patrons are educated and appreciative and almost always behave themselves. As I give out my tickets to others many of the days - I clearly explain to them the rules and reality that if they do anything that is deemed wrong, then I would probably lose my tickets for life - thus I don’t just give them to anyone.
The course is unbelievable. The TV does not do it justice. It is much more hilly and sloped than it shows on TV.
Amazing place and amazing service.
The food is very good and they don’t charge much for it. You can get sandwiches for less than $3.00. Beer is $6.
Good times.

Went to many practice rounds back in the 90's when I was able to score practice round tickets in the lottery. Went once on a Sunday and sat on the 15th hole grandstand and watch Ben Crenshaw come through and win the green jacket.
The good - the best is the practice rounds on Monday and Tuesday. Very relaxed, players talk to each other and will interact with the crowd. The place is immaculate. You have to actually go there to believe it. When you walk the course years later I can still remember the layout when I watch it on TV.
The bad - That area of Augusta is a dump. The Master's store was very crowded. And trying to buy stuff for your friends at the end of the day is tough. For years locals with tickets made big bucks selling their tickets and renting their places after the 90's. That is when everything took off because people would sell their tickets online. The tournament weekend everyone is on their best behavior. For the Sunday round it was like being in Church all day. If you were within 50 yards of any players you had to whisper and stand/sit perfectly still.
Years ago at some World Golf championship at the course by the winery off 85 I was with a group of guys. We were standing close to the green, with about 50 other people and there was a foursome on the green. We were at least 30 yards away from the guy that was lining up his putt. One of the guys in our group leaned over and whispered something into his friends ear. The golfer, some English guy I never heard of, looks up and says in this loud cockney accent, "do you mind mate?". Only that guy and a CIA spy satellite could have heard him. The stewards came over afterwards and asked us all to leave.

And, I have been to Augusta National multiple times during The Masters week. I lived there during the years when you could walk up to the gate and get in during the practice rounds. The environment was always more relaxed during the practice rounds. And, we always enjoyed the pimento cheese sandwiches.
And, being familiar with Augusta restaurants, most of them had special "Masters" menus - the same exact menus as regular weeks except that every item was about $3-$4 higher. The local Hooters restaurant flew in their best waitresses from all over the country for that week. Of course, we would always go to Rae's Coastal Cafe (not sure if it is still there) after the practice round. We saw several of the golfers in there.
My fondest memory was when we were headed from the green to the tee box on one of the holes. My Dad noticed Arnold Palmer headed to the tee box. He stopped us and told us to move about 10 more yards towards the green and said, "Arnold will hit the ball about here." Mr. Palmer teed off, the ball landed, and rolled to about 5-10 feet from where we were standing. We got to speak to Mr. Palmer and got to see the next stroke.

I was fortunate to be born into a family that had 4 tickets each year. My grand-parents started in the late 50's. My father would take me when I was old enough to appreciate what was going on. And as my cousins and I were old enough, we would go on our own. Every year from around 1971 to my last in 1985. When m both grand-parents passed away, they no longer sent the application. Used to go down on Mondays and Tuesdays when I was at Clemson. Then Golf Digest printed the story of the best kept secrets in golf. Number one was you can go to the Masters during practice rounds for $10. Wasn't long after that when the lottery began for practice round tickets.
Too many memories to mention here. Most of which center around my trips with Dad. We would sit beside 3 green, watch the all the players come through 3 and 4 then head down to 15-16 and watch them come through again. You could actually do that back in those days.

Lol this isnt going to go well.. Especially after the responses I got from my friends when they asked me how it was.. to me.... Overrated..BUT I only we to the practice rounds. Yes the greens are immaculate and the scenery is picture perfect, but after about 2 hours of being there I was over it. It was cool going to pro shop and the concessions. Also enjoyed getting up close to the Pros when they Tee off. Like I told me buddies, if someone offered me to go play a round of golf or to go to the masters, I'm choosing the round of golf.

Great experience, good fans. Augusta on the other hand...meh....I'd never go there for any reason other than the tournament.

The city is crappy on one side and nice-ish on the other.
Better to go out to Evans, GA to the Recteq headquarters and get you the best pellet smoker you can buy.

There were two things that were going to happen every year, my Dad was going to at least one race in Darlington and to the Masters and loved going to the Masters. I have not been to either, but have been to many NASCAR races and went to the Sunday round at the PGA at Medinah in 1999 when Tiger and Segio battled it out. Tiger's first major win.

I used to go to the practice rounds every year before they started the lottery. You could walk up and just buy a ticket or someone would be coming out and just give you their ticket if you got there about midday. Good times.
