Oregon State and Washington State sue former PAC-12 schools

7

Fascinating, evidently the PAC-12’s bylaws state that voting rights and conference membership are revoked once a school announces intent to leave the conference.

This would be mean that OSU and WSU, as the only active members of the conference, will:

1.) Receive the money from this season’s TV contracts;

2.) Receive the money from this season’s bowl payouts; and

3.) Are the only two schools eligible to play in the PAC-12 Championship Game.

Lawsuit can be read here:

That would be a tough pill to swallow for the real USC if they made the playoffs

DJ will get another chance at a Conference Championship then.

That is laughable for the other schools to lose the money, serves them right.

Really, the ACC should take those two in

Did some research and they look like real nice schools. Oregon State especially with those real neat programs they have, beautiful surroundings.

There would be a neat a little 4 team pod out there. With two cubcakes only six games that would be a hassle for present ACC teams.

Is Clemson on the road to being considered a cupcake ? Sad.

Apparently was a board of directors meeting scheduled next week w/ all the schools, presumably to officially dissolve the conference & split the assets.

OSU & Wazzu are contending the other 10 have lost their voting rights (USC & UCLA's were immediately stripped after their announcement to join B10, so a precedent has been set). At stake:

*the legal status of P12 - the brand still has value, especially for the remaining 2 to do a reverse merger w/ MWC to rebuild the league

*lots of $ - P12 still has NCAA MBB tourney revenue units set for distribution worth $50-90M based on what I've seen. In addition, P12 (to my understanding) is still also due "Power 5" payment from the existing CFP contract that runs through 2025 (paid out ~$79M last year to the P5 conferences)

Hope they win. Still think we should consider those two in the ACC. We’ve already added Pacific coast teams and marginal football programs. Might as well create a western pod.
