And it was problems like this that got Obama voted in. He promised to change the healthcare system so people didn't have to worry about bankruptcy after getting sick.

Not really, the idea of the first black president

And the facts that Barry had a silver tongue and McCain was a doofus was what got him elected.

They could have voted against him, to repeal it.

May 10, 2017, 5:20 PM

If they didn't like it.

In that respect, it was health care.

Republicans used to see it as a right. Or just the right

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't identify as a "lib" but I think we can all agree

May 10, 2017, 4:28 PM [ in reply to is it supposed to be free? ]

at a minimum that it should be something reasonable. So what is "reasonable"? I don't know without doing some research. A person should not be saddled with unmanageable debt for years upon years, I know that much. I of course have little understanding of the true economy of it all, but I could at least come to terms with a lofty price tag for a highly volatile, error-prone procedure. Once you start to get above $20,000-ish (?) or so, you are talking major debt for the average American. The system itself needs to be leaned out or the government will have to subsidize it in some way. I mean, I guess it already does through bankruptcy. It's an extraordinarily complicated problem, that's why we need highly skilled experts examining it, examining other systems throughout the world, and making a deliberate, concerted effort to fix it, rather than the politically-motivated charade we have now.

Both reasons are correct.

May 10, 2017, 4:18 PM [ in reply to Bruh did you even watch the show? ]

He couldn't afford the treatments he was getting and he had inoperable, Stage 3 cancer so he began selling meth to cover both his expensive treatments and to leave his family money.

working in a car wash after school just to make ends meet, and they had a newborn on the way to boot. He had already resigned himself to the fact he was dying, he just didn't want to die with his family being paupers.

This is silly to stretch this premise to some healthcare hardship story.

also, one of the main themes of the show was Walter's greed....it was greed that got him in the business, for the right reasons, and later kept him in it, for the wrong reasons.

All the pearls of wisdom come from Facebook, don't they?

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

His decision to start selling meth was after his diagnosis

May 10, 2017, 6:51 PM [ in reply to No, before he ever started getting treatments, he was ]

he was resigned to working the car wash as a 2nd job to provide for his family (the more "honorable" path) until his diagnosis. After the diagnosis he knew he couldn't make ends meet let alone provide for his family after his death, so he turned to selling meth.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up
