Anybody who thinks coaching is the issue

Clearly doesn't understand the game of basketball. The problems lie directly on the fact that we have young players and an upper class that can't hit a basket. If you watch the team play, they are very fundamentally sound and play assignment basketball. This is a system that, with a couple more shooters, would contend yearly for the ACC. Harrison is a work in progress, along with Sullivan, Smith and Nnoko. I'm very optimistic about the future of Clemson basketball, and am very impressed with how the defense performed so far (minus a few exceptions).

People say he doesn't recruit well but in all honesty it's very difficult to recruit for Clemson's BB team. We're known as a FB school through and through and our facilities are all that great. He's doing the best he can with what he can get. he's just starting to get his players in and I really like what I'm seeing from the young guys. Roper and Filer are going to be beasts and KJ is and will continue to be a beast.

Duke and NCSU for recruits, you're going to lose some big ones. Clemson needs to re-establish itself as a basketball school before we start landing 4 and 5 star basketball players who actually know how to play (unlike Jennings).

coach. He has been here 3 years. We have no shooters, we have no big men that have come in since he took over. It's not only that we don't have any good seniors or juniors, but we don't have any period. Not even any freshmen waiting in the wings. If we don't hold a team to 50 or less, we have no chance to win. It's his fault that he has no shooters. Everythng on that program is his fault, otherwise don't take the paycheck for the top position.

from Purnell waiting to take over, and they transfer due to ego/not being in the right system, that can't be put on the coach. It's obvious we would have recruited differently if we knew Johnson/Hill/Stanton would be leaving 2-3 years ago.

Booker and Jennings.
NO juniors and all freshman and sophomores.
The coaching transition numbers have caught up to us. This team will be very good in two years but we're going to have some growing pains.

Why do you bother with these twits who obviously know nothing and are completely unrealistic? You will never convince these losers. Make your point and move on.

Understanding the Game is not the issue - winning is.

First - yes I understand the game. Now that we have clearned that up. Let's go on to the real topic. Why are we getting spanked by teams we should not lose to? I really don't want to hear after 3 years about it being Purnells fault. I don't want to hear about us competing with UNC for the 5 star players. I went to Clemson from 1977-1981. We had no 5 star players then and we won't get them now. Let's compare Rick Barnes to BB. Rick took over Clemson with a team the media described as the Slab Five. On paper - they should not win at all. But in a much better era of ACC basketball - he managed to take those "bad" players and finished .500 in the ACC. Predicted to lose them all. Am I ready to give up on BB? No. But I am tired of hearing all the excuses when Clemson is getting beat by 20 to a school who should never be able to beat us. As I have said before - my expectations are that we beat the teams we should beat and be competitive with the rest. Win a few, lose a few, just don't be embarassed. There are 2-3 star players who can play and actually make shots. Being sound fundamentally is nice - but at the end of the game - you need to have more points. You cannot recruit all defensive players and expect to win.
