One of the most disgusting things I've heard...

Watching the game last night I heard one of the worst things in sports I've ever heard (no it wasn't "touchdown South Carolina" though that one is on the list). One of the announcers, and I can't remember which one, said something like "You see Shaw diving forward, Spurrier is actually coaching him to do that, he wants him to lead with his head." Wow what more proof do you need that Spurrier does not care about the well being of his players. The fact that he put Shaw back in and his shoulder continued to look bad is astounding.

I think the comment was actually, "Spurrier coaches Shaw to slide head-first." Slightly different, but bad nonetheless.

his injury would probably have never happened, so were those 2 extra yards worth it?

telling comment was made during SOS's halftime interview. The bimbo asked, "What happens if Shaw can't play the second half?" SOS says, "Then Thompson plays; he's next in line." The bimbo obviously wanted SOS to comment on how his gameplan would have to change. Instead, he shows his blatant disregard for Shaw's condition. He really is a p-o-s.

negative in that comment. The OBS NEVER answers the question he is asked and that is no different. She asked a question that he didn't really want to answer so he gave a quick response. I agree he's a jerk, but cannot see it there.

It was his cavalier attitude about the Shaw situation that spoke to me. There was no "I hope he'll be able to go" or "Connor means a lot to our offense, I hope he's OK." It was, "Next." I really don't think I'm making something out of nothing. SOS couldn't care less about Shaw if he can't play. That's just another scholarship he can take from one kid and give to another.

Even being completely heartless and selfish, you'd have to

be stupid to think that he wouldn't care if his number 1 QB was good enough to go. Not having your number 1 means less likely to win, so even if he didn't care at all about the well-being of Shaw he cares about him being able to play. While the OBS, has said plenty of dirtbag things, on this one you are definitely finding something out of nothing.

We could do this all day (which I won't), but I really do think SOS sees every one of his players as expendable. His interest in them ends when they are no longer able to play due either to injury or lack of ability. That is my last rebuttal.
Oh, I left out incarceration.

Your "rebuttal" was no rebuttal at all. I have agreed with you in that I think Spurrier is a jerk that does not care for his players. Jessie Palmer may joke about it, but I don't think I ever hear fondness in his voice when referring to Spurrier.
Now, with that said, just because he's a jerk doesn't mean everything he says somehow reveals that. I don't think this statement was malicious in any way. I think you read it as such despite that fact.

I live in Columbia and heard the radio program on my way home where Spurrier discussed his reasoning behind this a week ago. He talked about how sliding feet first leaves the QB open to an illegal spear or a broken ankle. I thought, “Wow, he’s done it. The great Spurrier is changing how the game is played again.” Needless to say I have been implementing this new line of thinking everywhere I can. For instance, now when hiking through the woods and I come to a creek I don’t simply step across but dive head first. So far my ankles are fine.

Palmer said that but I swear that guy just rambles and makes up stuff so I wouldn't put much stock in any of his silly remarks.
