--- is Randy Mahaffey. I would include him on any of my lists.
He was a forward at Clemson 64-67.

He was one of four brothers (Don, Ronnie and Richie) who played for Clemson.

Randy was a large guy who played physical, fun to watch.

His grandson Trent Steinour, a 6'10 Power Forward, has committed to play at Clemson University beginning in the 25/26 season.

Randy, Richie, Butch Z, David Angel, and Murray Jarmin. My favorites from the old days. Unfortunately; we were regularly being worn out by the likes of Duke and UNC, in those days.

He was drafted by the Lakers of the NBA in the 2nd round and the Kentucky Colonels of the ABA. He played 3 seasons. Colonels, Nets, and Carolina.

One of my favorites as I was there at the same time. His team beat North Carolina in the North South Classic in Charlotte, 1965 or 66, I think. Others on that team were Hank Channell, Jim Sutherland, point guard Buddy Benedict, Ken Gardner, and Gerry Helms.

Randy was one of my favorites too and in my opinion the best of all the Mahaffeys. Hopefully his grandson is better than all of them.

He had to shoot left handed, and still beat me as I was only 5' 9". I like to think it helped him develop his left hand.

Played against Pete Maravich in the "Y" gym a number of times. In the 8th grade I kind of held my own. He hit a growth spurt and I couldn't touch him. One time he was at the "Y" practicing fancy passes (behind the back and between the legs) and got upset, I asked him what was wrong and he said "I hit the wrong brick." I met him at a Trade Show in New Orleans and reminded him of it, he was very gracious about his time at Clemson (Daniel High School). Unfortunately he had a heart attack a few months later.

In that North South Classic, they beat NC State and UNC on back to back nights!

Mahaffey outplayed UNC All-American Billy Cunningham, scoring something like 32 points!

I remember it well because I was there for both games. Our high school team attended that event for several years.
