Other than stricter gun laws (which I don't disagree with) are there any other actual solutions you (talking to dareal, tbalm, guess I'll mention Clemfan or he'll feel left out) have to dealing with terrorism because all I ever see you do is tell everybody how they're wrong.....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

terrorism?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There is so little terrorism in China, N. Korea, etc.

Jun 13, 2016, 3:04 PM

If only we could handle things like them. I'm not sure if there's ever been a terrorist attack in North Korea.

Jun 13, 2016, 3:09 PM

I never hear Bern or Hillary talking about it....it was one of the most important topics at the republican debates but a non issue at the democratic...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Did you watch the debates? Serious question. It came up.

Jun 13, 2016, 3:12 PM

We're in the shit of it now abroad whether we like it or not. I probably would consider myself non-interventionist, but once we've intervened, we should probably clean up the mess.

I did watch some of the democratic debates and pretty much all of the republican. I was genuinly interested in what they had to say on terrorism compared to the republicans but never really heard.

Or ten good people could have shot 60 more people as they tried shooting at someone firing in a dark club.

Or twenty good people could have shot 120 more people as they fired at every muzzle flash that occurred within the dark club amongst all the smoke and screaming.

So yes, many other scenarios could have unfolded, Walker Texas Ranger.

That's a bit of a complicated question. The one this weekend

Jun 13, 2016, 3:54 PM [ in reply to Well, I know you are a liberal because you've already ]

kinda defies the conventions of a traditional mass shooting (sad that that's an applicable term) probably because it was terrorism. Most mass shooters engage in murder-suicides. Self-preservation is usually not considered, although I understand the argument that they want to do the most damage. Most of them also target places they were familiar with, i.e. their school or place of work. While it may be a gun-free zone, it's hard to tell if that is the reason for them targeting it.

Do you think you could have brought him down? I could have brought him down without emptying a 17 round clip and I haven't shot a pistol in years. Killing a few would have been a risk I'd have taken because if you were there and you shot me in the process of shooting him I'd have crawled over and demanded you finish him off before the cops got there.

Soon after Mr. Mateen first opened fire, he was confronted by an armed security guard who was an off-duty police officer, said John Mina, the Orlando police chief, at a news conference Monday morning. They exchanged gunfire. The security guard was then joined by an unknown number of police officers, the first to arrive on the scene.

Re: OK, pottymouth, what did they do?***

Jun 15, 2016, 3:15 PM

First off, let me apologize. I was shying away from the politicking about this on TV (Trump was in full steam), and still rationalizing. A dear friend lost her son, and I'm trying to empathize while the rhetoric is blaring from any and political opportunist before the bodies are even cold. . .so obviously had a head of steam.
I hope you accept my apology.

Anyway, what do who do? The president? Clinton? Probably grandstanded about how no guns would somehow solve everything, the same way others think more guns would somehow solve everything.

What do I think? I think I'm sad, but also hope the wife who knew his intent is jailed.
That's when this crap will slow down- when people who are nuts and violent start acquiring weapons, making plans, etc., we have a duty to do something if we're aware of said plans.

More guns, less guns. . .not gonna make much difference.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you guys think that it is a good idea to allow American citizens the right to bring loaded firearms into a place where large amounts of alcohol is being served? If we are being honest, the people going to this party were likely to be drinking amounts of alcohol that would put them over the legal limit.
