'Tobacco Bowl': Clemson Tops Virginia in Richmond, 32-15
RICHMOND, (UPI)— Clemson scored three touch downs in the third quarter to day to rout Virginia, 32?15. The Tigers put on drives of 79, 80 and 75 yards after spotting the Cavaliers a 7?3 half?time lead.
Tommy Kendrick passed 53 yards to Don Kelley to set up the first Tiger touchdown, scored by Smiley Sanders on a 1?yard buck, then connected with Kelley, on a 75?yard scor ing play.
Kendrick next passed to John McMakin for 40 yards, setting up a touchdown by Heide Davis on a 7?yard dash.
Late in the first half, Kent Merritt's 71?yard touchdown sprint had given Virginia the lead
