If they followed these 2 alone, you'd have a whole year of probation.

That really wasn't surprising.
The same year, Ole Miss managed to land five-stars Robert Nkimdiche, Laremy Tunsil, and Laquon Treadwell - the #1 DE, #1 OT, and #1 WR in the nation, all from way out of state. And this was coming off a 7-6 season, and Ole Miss just plain hadn't done much in recent memory...in 2011 Ole Miss had gone 2-10, in 2010 they'd been 4-8. So they hadn't just been bad, they'd been terrible.
Then all of a sudden a school with very little track record of success, historically or recently, and that seats just 60,000 - small by SEC standards - suddenly starts pulling in the #1-rated guys at their positions from three or even six states away, from Florida, Georgia, and Indiana? It would be exactly like, say, UVA suddenly going into Alabama, Florida, and maybe Ohio, and pulling out the top five-star players right out from under the Tide, FSU, and Ohio State.
Did not compute. Not then, not ever. Actually it would compute more if it were UVA doing that. Their degree is actually reasonably prestigious. Ole Miss? Not so much.
There were always going to be massive questions over that, and more than a few folks wondered aloud if Ole Miss was going to have a hard time answering them. Especially given the behavior of Nkimdiche and Tunsil over the last couple years.
You wonder if the one that got them caught was Tunsil. I remember there was some massive falling-out between Tunsil and his step-dad that made the news and got some cops called, and after that the stepdad was very publicly singing like a canary to anyone and everyone...it seems entirely within the realm of plausibility he cooperated with the NCAA. If he handed the NCAA a smoking gun, Ole Miss could be in some very hot water.

Great post
In 2009, Coach Saban was winning a National Championship, huge sleeze was at a place called Lambuth College.
LAMBUTH
Fast forward a few years and sleeze is beating the best Programs and recruiters for Top Talent from all round the country - despite coming off a 7-6 year, and selling a program with no tradition, and poor facilities

No one chooses to go to that state for any reason unless they are getting paid. They would have gone 7-6 again with all those 5 stars if it weren't for Chad Kelly basically implementing the Clemson offense at Ole Miss.
