Ole Miss

Just about everyone on the planet knew that something was up with Ole Miss before all the Tunsil controversy. The question is, where is the NCAA in all of this?
Doesn't the NCAA have the chat transcript with Tunsil asking his coaches for money?
Why isn't this front page news?
Why is everything is this country so ###### corrupt?

The problem is the NCAA can't act unless the player talks to them voluntarily, because the NCAA doesn't have subpoena power

This is the reason things have fallen so far. The NCAA needs real power. The power to ask questions and the expectations to get truthful answers. Schools especially public schools should have no power to limit the NCAA in investigations.
I have always said I would take an inferior product in college football as a whole to believe that we were all playing on a level playing field but the truth is not many share that view.

recruiting violations are criminal in nature it's up to the schools to decide how hard they want to police themselves.

for every absurd rule in the NCAA book, there was a coach that felt that someone got the best of him and asked for the change. Some coach thought that a kid could be swayed by an extra dessert and we got dinged because some fat lineman decided that he wanted cake AND a cookie.
Because of hypercompetitive and paranoid coaches, the NCAA makes the UN look efficient.

"Why is everything is this country so ###### corrupt?"
Because the fans, especially the ones with very deep pockets, clamor for teams to be the best at any cost. As long as we fill the stadium on Saturdays, it is the fans that are condoning this behavior. Don't blame anyone else, because the fans are the root of this huge problem. The same is true for thugs playing sports, and if great enough, are above the law (see Jameis Winston, Dalvin Cook, and all of the UNCheat players, etc). They can do whatever to whomever anytime they wish, and it's all shoveled under a huge rug. And it doesn't even matter if they can read or write on a 3rd grade level, universities will continue to shoehorn these players into their programs and provide a way for them to succeed, while other more-deserving academically are excluded. I could get on this soapbox all day long and preach hell-fire and brimstone about it, but it would fall on deaf ears. Nothing is going to change probably in my lifetime. C'est la vie.

People act like this is new in college athletics. Been going on for as long as college athletics have been around and will continue to do so.

The NCAA can't actually do much with Tunsil. He can refuse

to talk to them and there's nothing they can do about it. Ole Miss can claim the pictures of the text conversation were photoshopped. They can claim that Tunsil was confused by the barrage of questions and didn't realize what he was answering.
All the NCAA can really do is go after the guys implicated by the text convo and hope they can find some proof on that end.

The NCAA is a membership organization

while they can't make individuals testify, IN THEORY, they could kick out a member because they were being obstructive in an investigation. If they thought that they had enough against a school, they could force the school to comply with the threat of no longer recognizing that school for intercollegiate sports.
And yes I did caveat that with IN THEORY!
