answers.
How long do you think Dabo will be at Clemson? Is it his job to have until the day he feels he is too old to coach anymore? Maybe like a Frank Beamer type... Bobby Bowden type... twenty or so years?
I am liking what I am seeing from his coaching style and don't want to see any of the coaching staff leave at any time. Just asking a question.

I think it is a great group and hope they stay together a very long time .
Have you ever noticed that at pressers, Chad and Brets mannerisms, body language and hand gestures are almost exactly those of Dabo ?

He has been here for 4 years and he has a strong winning record so far, but if he continues to lose to USuC and stops putting up the 8, 9, 10 win seasons, he could be gone very soon. I don't think that will happen though. I see him being here for another 5-10 years minimum.

he would leave us for, and that's Bama. If it did happen, I can't see it happening for a good chunk of time. I think he would have to bring Clemson back to being a top tier team before they would offer. That's my two cents.

Not an easy question to answer.
Oct 26, 2012, 4:32 PM
|
|
He is dependent on hiring coordinators that can get the job done. Tommy Bowden was the same way. In alot of ways Dabo has mirrored Tommy's style. Chad Morris hire is Dabo's great accomplishment. Morris is a great football Coach and when he gets hired away were back to being nothing unless Dabo can replace him with someone pretty darn good. Were still soft as hell up front and SC will beat us till that gets fixed. I think we ought to give Dabo that Athletic directors job and make Moris HC today. Then the future would be much more secure.

that is what needs to happen....but it will not. Dabo could sell clemson and raise funds and chad would be a better head coach.

we have 2 or 3 years of consecutive November meltdowns and losses to SCar. I don't see that happening within the next few years.
He leaves if... we win big (National Title) and Bama has genuine interest and offers him 4-5 million. Has nothing left to prove at Clemson and Mama calls him home. I don't see this happening either within the next few years.
I think Dabo is here for at least 5 for more years and his success will depend on how he replaces Chad Morris.

That he told his daughter he wouldn't leave until she graduates HS tells me two things:
1. We've probably got him for two more years.
2. Being a HC is definitely on his radar.

I like him, but I thought he went overboard on Shuey last night after the roughing the passer call. He should not be to hard on a linebacker just playing aggressive football. The call was questionable to begin with. Football is a rough sport and you can't just turn off the momentum on a dime. Shuey has really helped our D tremendously. Dabo better win that last home game this year. It might be to unbearable for him to spend another year is this state, no matter how much $$$ he makes.

bet he stays a very long time. I don't see anyone out there interesting him except for Alabama, and if he were successful enough to warrant the interest of Alabama (that would probably mean multiple ACC championships and a trip to the BCS NC game, if not a NC itself), then it would not surprise me if he decided to remain a legend at Clemson instead of "next" at Alabama. And we'd have the money to make it worth his while. Maybe not Alabama money but certainly a ton of money.
If he's not that successful, I doubt he would jump anywhere.

He's beginning to earn the benefit of doubt so if he has rough season here or there, it sucks, but he'll turn it around.
However, if a few bad seasons begin to string together then his seat will start getting warm.
And if the Alabama job becomes available and he is offered it, he's out the door.

meaning he strings together consistent 10-win seasons, in the ACC title race yearly, and, very critically, IF he can start to OWN the coots again, he'll be our coach for life.
Unless he does all that and then the Alabama job opens up. If he becomes that calibre of coach and the Bama job is open, he'll go home when "mama calls."

I say he will be here a LONG time. He is exactly what Clemson needs. A good Christian man, that is also a great coach and motivator. He is a great recruiter and knows his limitations as well. He surrounds himself with an excellent staff that does the things that he cannot do. I could not be happier with him. The future is BRIGHT at Clemson!!! Go. Tigers!!!!
