That is the standard way to defend a team that has one star player who is head and shoulders above his teammates.
Bill Bellicheck had this philosophy throughout his NFL career: Put your best cover guy on their SECOND best receiver, then rotate to coverage toward their best receiver so that he is always doubled.

He was killing UT with crossing routes and behind the line drag rites early against man defense. UT put in a Star safety and played zone a bunch after that. It stopped those routes.
Selective blitzing kept MCCall off balance most of the game after that.

TN lit them up, mostly on the ground. Coming off this performance, and with 2 weeks to prepare for them, I like our chances. The Valley will be rockin' for sure...

We should expect to beat them as we have a superior program. If we play anything like we did against App we will beat them by double digits easily. I am not predicting that, I am just pointing out that performance will murder the entire ACC if replicated.

and electric players in the country. They don’t appear to have much else. Very disappointing that Concepcion desperately wanted a Clemson offer but we went with Johnson and Hannafin

Projecting the college performance from a small HS WR is never easy.
There are SOOOO many small, good WRs that you can’t give offers to them all.
Indeed, the Travis Hunter types stand out and everybody can see that.
But look at:
Jordan Addison (Pitt WR that transferred to USC); he was a 3* and didn’t get offers from the ‘big’ schools. NFL 1st round pick.
Zay Flowers (BC WR); another 3* who none of the ‘big’ schools wanted as a WR. NFL 1st round pick.
Going a good ways back - Antonio Brown. Central MI signed this overlooked small HS WR because none of the ‘big’ schools went for him.

I was unable to watch the whole game last night but our defense did not seem to put a lot of pressure on their QB. Did it get better after I was unable to watch ?

mostly because their OL can't push anybody. They struggled a lot with WCU.
If we can keep Concepcion from hurting us, they don't have much. He's the only reason they beat WCU.
