a few other teams in the SEC and B1G have payrolls around that. Hard for us to compete with that when bidding for players, either free agents or high school recruits.

We already have a talented roster. Just picking up a few key players like Cam Ward here would make a huge difference, and it wouldn't cost $20 million.. but, if we can't compete for players, we probably don't need to be spending upwards of $22 million/year on the coaching staff.

is immaterial. We will not win many of those battles moving forward if athletes aren't convinced that 1) talent trumps seniority for playing time and 2) the coaching staff can develop players for the next level. There is no evidence we do either at certain positions. Dabo is clearly responsible for making sure both happen and the only way that it will is he does a 180 on the first and makes the hard decision to replace the QB, WR and maybe even the RB and OC coaches. After hearing Dabo's press conference yesterday, as well as many of his past comments, I suspect hades will freeze over before either one happens.

That’s why the big schools were all for nil and portal. They got tired of smaller schools being too competitive. They have created a monopoly now. Sad.
