Hendersonville is a stretch. Many of those beautiful towns haven’t recovered from Helene and are a mess. That makes me sad. Banner Elk got hammered.

I live on a mountain in western North Carolina...I always thought of Clemson as a "piedmont" area rather than mountain.
We spent a week at the motel in Clemson visiting our son who was living in an athletic dorm (way back in the day 28 years ago, they were the size of a prison cell).
It was sooo hot that September that we treated ourselves to an "offday" in Highlands when his schedule did not really accommodate visiting...what a relief...

Eh, I think Clemson is in the foothills of the Appalachians not the actual mountains. Though you can see them off in the distance.

I get Boone being in the Appalachians, but I thought we were where the Blue Ridge yawns its greatness.

I didn’t look at the list. I don’t consider Clemson to be in the mountains. It is a fantastic place, or at least I obviously think so, since I elected to retire and live in the area. We also lived in Asheville and there are many, many beautiful places in the Appalachians. That would be a very tough list to place high on.
