Offensive playcalling and the DBs

Those are the two glaring problems I see with this team. Not the only problems, but the big ones.
Of the two, I’m more willing to give grace to the freshman defensive backs. Having inexperienced players sucks, but it happens. The only program level concern it gives me is that it’s a sign that we weren’t able to “reload”. We’re going to have to rebuild the secondary over the next couple of seasons.
The play calling, on the other hand…mystifying. The first two drives were fantastic. We passed to the middle of the field, employed the tight ends, and I thought, “Well, finally!” Then after those drives, we’re largely back to screen passes, 50/50 throws to the sideline, QB draws, and runs up the middle (i.e. the only plays we seem to call with any consistency). This indicates to me that whoever is calling our plays (be it Streeter or Dabo) is able to put together an innovative set of plays to start the game with, with a week to prepare them, but is unable to innovate during game time. Not a good look. At all.

Dabo needs to stick that play calling card back in his pants and leave it there.
