Why I think BV is gone
Nov 30, 2021, 6:09 PM
|
|
His son announced this year he was hanging up his cleats. He was never going to leave while he was at Clemson. Clemson (Dabo) doesn’t seem willing to do what it takes to make sure we have an OC to match BV’s defense and right now his stock is still high. Who knows what another off year does to that. It was fun while it lasted and say what you will but this success had about 10% to do with Dabo and 90% BV. Makes me sick to think about it

That's what I was going to say; he has more than one son! I think Clemson may have been the only place in America where he could have spent as much time with his boys and still do his job(that he loves with a passion). Cake and eat it too! "T-bone" as he has called his son before, has a bunch of friends at Clemson and the surrounding area and isn't saying he is leaving! His wife is on record as saying, "she loves the area"!
Remember as well; Brent is not from Oklahoma! He is from Kansas! Went to K-state and played there. Only HC job I can see him taking up is that one.

So year after year of him saying he doesn’t want any part of the stresses of a HC position doesn’t factor into your logic at all?

Dabo’s job is to put the right people into place. He convinced BV to come. He was intricately involved with recruiting including our wrs, Deshaun and Trevor. Amazes me how people can compartmentalize and give little to no credit for what Dabo has done but are quick to blame all the negatives on him.

and that is wrong. Also assumes that BV is childish and agrees that TE is the problem, so he's going to leave.

BV said when asked if he wanted to take over Kansas State after Snyder left that you don’t follow a legend. Not saying Lincoln Riley is a legend, but there’s a lot more room to go down than up at Oklahoma.
Plus remember that Stoops chose his brother to become defensive coordinator and pushed Venables aside. So his exit from Oklahoma was not great to say the least.
It really comes down to Venables ego wanting to prove he can succeed as a head coach and his desire for money. Will be interesting to see what happens. Not just with this Oklahoma job, but any other place where he thinks he has a good opportunity as a head coach.

Tony Elliott if not for being a Clemson alum would have probably already taken off for more money! As bad as people like to critique his offense - there are still multiple teams who would pay millions for his services! This should be a clue to people, but it isn't because people are making an emotional decision on the man and coach. Last year w/o Coach Scott Clemson and Elliott had the #9 ranked offense and averaged 41.8 ppg. and the OL struggled that year as well! The OL seemed to take a step back "early" and DJU took 2 steps back this season! Not all on the OC all the time unless; a person is an "ESPN highlights only fan"! They see Bama or LSU run a slant for a TD and go - that should be Clemson - but that slant worked because they ran other plays successfully! The offense has a problem and to me, you have to fix if the play has a chance or not before you can criticize the play call(the OL). A QB running for his life or not having time to set his feet consistently or who is on his back can't beat you. Neither can an RB who is tackled in the backfield before he can make anyone miss. Even if there is time - the players seem to be surprised when they do get the time and end up hesitating! But, I am not a highlight fan, so I look at it differently!
BV seems like the type that likes the grind! What better than fixing the ship and getting it back in tip top shape "after the entire CFB universe has started reading that ship's obituary"!

I believe he still has another son in high school. May be wrong about that as my memory is as long as something else.

Two things about BV
Nov 30, 2021, 6:56 PM
|
|
First, although he may have felt under appreciated while at OU, he has said before that the Stoops were like family and it was very difficult to leave.
Secondly, BV has the two boys at Clemson and also has two younger girls. He is a very involved dad. Not sure that would prevent him from taking his dream job, if indeed OU is it.

“10% Dabo, 90% BV”
This is a complete garbage take. Entire teams win championships, not just defenses. What do you think Dabo does? Just cheerlead every Saturday and give press conferences?

639 yds to LSU 628 yds to Ohio State Would you say BV was 90% of the reason we lost those two games??
I'm not dogging him, everyone has an off day and everyone gets their *** whipped.
He's an incredible DC and I'd hate to loose him, but don't forget who brought him here, who has given him the best pay to keep him here, and taken 100% of the blame when his defense has a bad day on the biggest stage.
CDS
I'd say they've made a pretty good team together.
